Yeah, I had to survive a long part of my life without phone or e-book reader. I own a KOBO Mini so I can carry it everywhere and the battery lasts far longer than my phone.
Fun fact, when I was a little girl, I already loved to read and my dream was to have a magic book with all the book I like inside, so the first time I bought an e-book reader I felt like I dream was becoming true.

I just can't get over books. I love the feel of them. I love the smell. I love turning pages.
BUT I also own a tablet that hosts more books (novels, shorts, graphic novels, comics and cookbooks) than my entire place could hold and fits in my backpack so yeah the choice was an easy one.

Haha wish granted! That's awesome. Looks like your genie was paying attention ;)
My grandfather was a lover of books and even regularly went to bookstores to find out what they were throwing away so he could rescue books destined to the shredder and bring them to schools and libraries. Still he would have loved Kindles. All your books at your fingertips. What a marvelous invention.

My problem is space, when I was little, I had a shelves which was as long and large as my wall, my wall was twice the length of a bed. It was all filled with book. My parent wouldn't give me all the toys I wanted, but if I was curious about something or asking for a book, I had it the next day. So my shelves were full with books about everything, like I wanted to understand how eating was working, I got a book about the human body and how it was working.
Unfortunately, I don't have that much space today, so I gave a lot of my books to library and now own 2 e-book readers. The mini is always with me as barely bigger than my phone and much lighter. What I can tell you is the touch and the way you read on e-book reader is far closer than it is on a tablet. I encourage you to go in a shop and to try that out because it's a good middle ground. I have a tablet too, but I don't read on it and I'm praying that this kobo mini 2 with light isn't an hoax, omg that would be amazing XD !

My grandfather has a room like that. Used to be my mom's room when she was a kid. When she moved out, he literally covered the walls in shelves floor to ceiling, and then filled them with books. The lower shelves had books for kids from all over.

Heh you were raised right. I can't remember a single toy I got when I was a kid. I only remember one Xmas and one birthday gift. One was from my aunt and it was a subscription to a book club that would send you one book about a country's mythology or folklore every month. And one from my granfather was a lifetime public library card. I made good use of both, let me tell you.
Kids who read just develop more imagination and empathy than kids who don't. When I have kids, they'll be book worms!

I will. The tablet is what I used in a pinch because it has a kickass battery (even though it's old) and lasts for hours and it has a very decent hard drive and screen. But yeah I need a reader at this point.

Haha well you have a genie who likes books so your wish might come true ;)

If you want to read more than just book, I advice you to have a look at some with memory card slots.
There is a very specific e-book reader I'm thinking of, the Pocketbook Touch HD dark brown (and only that color.. Even though it's weird, the ruby one doesn't have the blue light filter, only the dark brown does). It has everything, from the memory card slot to the ability to read audio books. Which I find amazing.

Great job at missing your cakeday! What's tradition if you don't uphold it properly? :P
Hope we can you miss it again next year ;D

Haha I pride myself in my tardiness and forgetfulness in all the realms of my life! The only thing I do not miss ever are anniversaries and my girlfriend's birthday but deadlines and cakedays? bring it on!
Looking forward to missing it next year!

As is now a proud tradition, I missed my Cakeday this week. In fact, I would have completely missed it, were it not for the lovely messages.
My excuse, and I think it's a good one, is that my Steamniversary is in November and I always confuse the two.
Anyway, I have spent some of my free time this week putting together a half-assed train, instead of playing Portal Knights (you're welcome) and with that magnificent introduction, I bet you can't wait to board.
There are 24 carts, bundled and unbundled (no Bad Rats but just don't expect Cyberpunk).
No 🤖 allowed, for security reasons, so there is a extreme massively super hard puzzle to solve first, as I have not yet learned how to use sgtools.
If you get stumped, just ask for more hints but there are several answers so you should be fine.
No big questionnaire this year, but there are some random factoids from Fluffypedia so feel free to share yours, or pictures of your pets or whatever you want.
Also looks like this little train might take me over to Level 7 (if nothing shifts to the free/bundled list) so what the hell, let's celebrate that too!
I added quite a few of people to my White list and there is a little special giveaway coming for my blue hearts, straight off the 💙 wishlist so keep your eyes peeled.
Thank you all for the great community, for your generosity and your support to strangers who wander through here, and for going round and round with me while we debate about important and unimportant issues throughout the year.
Oh and obligatory poll, in which I may have decided to alienate as many gamers as possible.
Have some cake and all aboard! 🎂🎫
