You should be allowed to put in a link for the game you're giving away. It will be more efficient than the search function, I believe.

The giveaway image for the game on the giveaway page goes to the store page. There's no need for this.

With logic you realise he refers during the creation process ;-)

I don't get why it would somehow be more efficient though. Isn't it faster to just type in the name of the game rather than have to look up the Steam app id # and then type that in anyway?

Also, if he meant that he wants a convenient link to the store page during the creation process well there is one already. After you type in the name of the game, if you click on the link displayed then it will open the store page in a new tab.

Dunno why he wants to paste there the url from steam. Which also requires to be found.

PS: And I thought I was master editor :-P Seems all we abused edit feature on this topic :-D

The autocomplete in the 'Enter game title' works fine. If they don't know the name of the game they're giving away, they're already doing it wrong, and if it doesn't show up, that means "You can't give the game away here, stop trying."

I think that would be harder, actually.

Your comment makes me think that you understood what he wanted to say. Care to explain a bit?

later edit: nvm, got it thanks for aElder's comment above. Well, when you create a giveaway, you also see a click-able link to the store page if you want to be sure. I also agree that it is easier this way.

The guy meant you should be able to put in the steam store page URL in the search box when selecting the game you want to create a GA for.

What would the point of that be? You'd have to go to Steam to search the game to get the game's store page URL, so it's just needlessly adding more steps.

Dun ask me, I ain't the one who suggested it. Just clarified for Undac up there :P I agree that it seems rather pointless.

I made a reply below, but try finding "A-Train 8" when creating a giveaway.

I can answer, you have to search it on steam (the same process) find the url, copy it, paste there. How it can be better? Well some bundle sites sometimes provide links to steam, ok. But it's uncommon.

I thought he was talking about searching giveaways on front page. I agree with you, the way it is now it's way better.

PS: Thanks!

With which other game you attempted and you had problems?
Perhaps a game that was given for free? They get removed.

OP may mean selecting the game via inserting a Steam link, like http://store.steampowered.com/app/390220/, it does not seem to work for me

A couple of rare times the search when creating a giveaway has annoyed me. The one I remember was when I tried to create a giveaway for "A-Train 8". The search feature brings up like a billion other DLCs (you know how many DLCs there are for games like Train Simulator). As far as I can tell, the game is removed from Steam but I can't confirm if the game can no longer be given away on Steamgifts. I suppose if A-Train 8 is not one of the first results in the search then it means it's not in the list at all. You could go through 100 pages, 5 items at a time, and still not find the game.
