Report him on SteamRep.
You can find out his SteamTrades profile:
http://www.steamtrades.com/user/id/{His steamID, starting like this: 7656...}

You can change your custom profile URL (they always make it look like the person they are impersonating, but once they change their custom URL again, following that custom URL will lead to no profile (or a different one of somebody alse has that taken).

A lot of impersonators are not even registered on ST, leaving no profile to leave rep on.
You can give temporary negrep on the profile of the legit person though. But of course, make it clear it is about impersonating, and the actual guy is legit, and also don't Forget to remove it when it is not needed anymore. :)

A few days ago a guy tried to scam me the same way....i checked the steam account linked to the steamtrades account he sent me, and then i checked his steam account and his was private, while the other guy's account was public, even though they had the same username and avatar. It's funny cause after i told him i knew he was a scammer, he started to tell me that it was easier to scam people a year ago and other things....he was actually a nice guy after all :| I felt sorry for him.

Maybe his family is being held hostage and won't be released until he scams $10000 worth of games!

Ok guys, I wanted to thank you all for help. I've made a thread on SteamRep about the guy and contacted person who he was impersonating. Turns out the guy already knows about the scammer and has already made thread on SteamRep. We linked each others threads so this should be solved in no time.

So here's the story:
Guy adds me on Steam and wants to trade Bioshock Infinite season key for my Tomb Raider key. He links me "his" profile to SteamTrades where he has 150+ reputation. Naturally I click on View Steam Profile and on profile of guy I'm chatting with and, look at that, 2 different profiles. I point out that fact to the guy and he goes offline. Even though I only ever did 2 trades in my life and I'm not experienced in them, I'm pretty sure this guy tried to scam me.
My question:
If this was really a scam attempt can I report the guy through Steam directly (since I don't have his SteamTrades link)? Is there anything they can do about it even if I show them chat log?
