well if by principle after ever odd number there's an even one,it must be even. but since divided by any other number it gives you zero, you can hardly tell :P

All even numbers are 2k and all odd are 2k+1, where k is a whole number. Therefore zero must be even ;)

How could it possibly be an odd number?

Thinking before asking usually avoids these types of responses.

Well, since -1 and 1 are odd numbers, 0 must be even.

Neither odd and even apply only to natural numbers so -2 isn't even either

Odd and even apply to all integers, including -2

Directly from Wiki: In schools, both students and teachers often hold misconceptions that zero is odd, or both even and odd, or neither.

Hmm... I thought in primary school, we all learned that 0 is even.

Zero is even by definition, but it's a "weird" number that has it's own set of problems if you want to use it.

Other examples of weirdness due to the need to use zero: zero isnt positive nor negative, 0^x = 0 | x^0 = 1 | 0^0 = ¿?, you cant divide by it, ...

Actually Zero wasn't considered a number until a thousand years ago or so partially due to the fact that it broke a few operations, but we needed it so we had to add exceptions to those.

Even though it's quite an odd one, zero is an even number.
