There is a game I want to play but apparently the new AMD drivers make it unplayable (stutters\fps drops).
I tried plugging the dvi from my monitor directly into the motherboard to see what happens if I use the iGPU. To my surprise, the game runs well without any of the problems I came across whenever I used the GPU.

Is there a way to force a game or do I need to plug to the mobo in order to play the game using the iGPU?

I have an R9 390.

Do you have some kind of amd control panel? If so there should be some kind of option to put which card you wanna use. I think.

Deactivate the iGPU in your bios.

Whoops... I read "How to force a game not to use ...". :D

If performance really sucks that hard after upgrading your drivers, try to roll back to the older drivers. Every GPU, especially high end stuff like the 390, should heavilly outperform every iGPU that is available. Not having the newest graphics drivers all the time isn't a bad thing nowadays, as NVIDIA and AMD both seem to deliver driver crap in recent weeks/months.

Can you specify what game you had problem with? Maybe try to downgrade to the previous version.
Also, it is possible that the AMD settings is the culprit.

That image Dianatrix posted, is that a real utility (which one?) or a troll posting?

It's a right click on game icon.

That's probably NVidia Optimus.

I'm not sure I understand. You're asking how to make the game use the integrated graphics instead of the dedicated GPU, but you just said it works when you plugged your monitor into the dedicated GPU. Are you asking how to do it without swapping the cable back and forth? If so, your monitor should have multiple inputs (HDMI, DVI, VGA), so just get another cable and use the another input. You can switch the monitor between inputs with the push of a button.

Haven't thought about that, thanks for the suggestion!

The BIOS most likely disables the iGPU when it detects another one. You could set the iGPU to primary on the BIOS itself when you intend to play that game.

Your monitor has to be plugged into the mobo to use the integrated graphics. No system can channel the integrated through your video card out to your monitor.

if the driver is the issue, why don't you uninstall it and install an older version?

I also play the newest game so I may run into issues with those because of the outdated drivers.

I also tried connecting cables from the mobo but for some reason it doesn't display anything.
