I just picked up the whole King's Bounty collection (Legends, Armored Princess, Crossworlds, Warriors of the North+DLC, Dark Side) for $10 from a Russian trader and can't wait to play through the franchise. (btw the games are on -75% sale on Steam, except Dark Side which is -50%)

I am a huge fan of the Heroes of Might and Magic series, turn/hex based combat and all that jazz so I hope I'll enjoy this series as well.

Anyway what's your opinion on King's Bounty? Also any gameplay tips&tricks are welcome!

They're fun, and if you've played the Heroes of Might and Magic games, then you should feel at home with them.

Well, I am a fan of Heroes series, I have all the games and tried the Kings bounty series (the PS2 version too >.<), but the gameplay is different, they are more like a RPG..not bad, but in my opinion, not good enought compared with Heroes of Might and Magic series :P

For me Heroes 3 was great and 4 was ok. King's Bounty was my replacement for Heroes.
Unfortunately, there isn't much of an evolution between each games (gfx/story) and because kinda repetitive - I enjoyed the first 2 non-the-less (don't bother with Armored Princess since Crossworlds is a patched up version of it).

P.S. even though Heroes 6 was the closest in gameplay to Heroes 3 it was rather boring.

About that, does it mean that Crossworlds 100% includes the whole of Armored Princess (kinda like Fallen Enchantress -> Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes)? Also HoMMV was great too in my opinion, great visuals and unit variety. The story was alright too, I liked the city management (oh and those city screens, still haunting me with their beauty). The Tribes of the East expansion has also improved many aspects of the game. If you haven't tried HoMMV yet then I'd recommend you do so. I also own HoMM VI but I haven't got around trying it.

Yes, Crossworlds is just Armored Princess with an extra mode (arena fighting?) and another short campaign. It could have easily come as a patch but why not make a grab for money on the way -_- (and a lazy one at that. when you changed modes it actually exited and re-entered the game).

As for Heroes 5, I hated the camera on that one so gave up on it rather quick.

Crossworld also added two maps and races to the base game and other improvements iirc. It was more of an expansion than a new game.

Yes i like KB, but some games in series are more like expansions rather new games(all games have similar control and mechanic, not bad thing, if you like one game you like others as well). Not very easy games, you can play yourself to corner if you don't pay attention.
Dont have good tips but i always use camera mod(zoom-out-further).
I hope next KB is fresh and have some improvement.
I played all KB games except Dark Side, one day i buy it but it seems to be like all others so no hurry.

Great! When you finished your playthrough, don't forget to post a feedback here ;)

I have never played the Kings Bounty franchise, but it looks nice.

Love the franchise, but it really gets repetitive as you go through the series. I played through the first three games on impossible difficultly with no losses, then stalled on Warriors of the North due to lost interest.

King's Bounty: The Legend(first in series[if you dont count original from 1990]) is atm in Steam 2.49$/€ if it looks interesting buy, im sure you dont regret :)
Or if you want to be sure you can try Armored Princess(no point to buy AP, Crossworlds is same price and also included AP) demo http://store.steampowered.com/app/3170/

Steam also have F2P King’s Bounty: Legions, but it is P2W Facebook game not real one.

I love them but I struggle playing as a brute force oriented character because you can't use rage during boss battles and that creates a hugely unfair disadvantage considering rage is that type's forte.

I played Armored Princess (and Crossworlds, but they're basically the same) and loved them. Still think I really should play Legend at some point. :/
Played Warriors of the North since "hey, more King's Bounty" and was disappointed by how half-assed the story was, how retarded the protagonist was, how 80% of the battles were against friggin' skeletons and how many times it crashed. Since then, I decided I'll wait till Dark Side is in a bundle before getting it since judging by it's Community Hub it's not much better (Did I mention Warriors of the North and Dark Side were made by a different developer?). <.<
King’s Bounty: Legions does not exist. Full stop.

Pretty much that. :D

If you like one, you'll probably like them all.
Tips and tricks, huh? Try cloning paladins, every clone can resurrect troops around .

It sounds like you are really looking forward to the games -- congrats on getting the bundle!

I played through Armored Princess (got it from a tier 1 Humble Bundle). I felt there was a lot less story / drive in Armored Princess than in any of the Heroes of Might & Magic games 1-4. The gameplay began getting too repetitive / tedious for me very quickly. When I got to the end of the game, I felt like I had been given a lot of unnecessary work just for a quick story. In all fairness, I focus mostly on story -- others may love the game for the pure tactical gameplay (of which there is a lot :).
