Batman: Arkham City is now on steam and open for pre-orders. Owners of Arkham Asylum get 20% off and the game appears to be using steam cloud instead of Games For Windows Live.

In other words: INSTA PREORDER!

So it requires both GWFL and Steam? Sounds a bit overkill.

Answer: Because it's a terrible console port and they want to milk more money out of it before sales "drop" because of "computer piracy".

The PC version of Arkham Asylum played fine for me, and it had Ageia physics interaction with the environment, which doesn't even function on consoles.

After having played Batman: AA for the PS3 and then tried it out on the PC, I can see the reason for this gap. Between the DRM and GFWL, this is a guaranteed console game for me.

Dunno I find AA playing very well on the PC. The game magazine I read also had a hands-on session with the PC version of the game and they said it didn't play like a port at all.
