With all of the recent info, I simply do not see it flopping. And all of it's reviews seem to average 9.5/10 so far. Not to mention the creation kit is confirmed to be included with it, and if you've put much time into any of the past Bethesda games, you should know that our wonderful modding community will fix up any issues that the game has.

Also, if you sign up for a free trial IGN Prime account (no credit card needed), you can get a 15% discount on top of Direct2Drive's already 10% discount.

Skyrim isn't going to flop. TES is pretty much in a league of its own.

If you want to wait though, that's cool. Pick up Morrowind or Oblivion instead.

I have zero excitement for it and that means that I'm going to enjoy it. More hype = more disappointment for me.

DLC will be inevitable, I'm going to wait a couple of years for a GOTY edition. I did the same for Borderlands, Dragon Age, and Oblivion. Not like I'm in a rush to play it, and it'll be cheaper then anyway.

I did that with Morrowind, Oblivion, and Borderlands. The problem with it now (for me) is the conditions under which i got those three.
1) I hadn't even heard of Morrowind until the GoTY edition was out.
2) A friend gave me his old copy of Oblivion when he got the GoTY edition, so I didn't need to actually buy the original version.
3) Borderlands is most fun when you play with other people and my friends had all gotten bored of it by the time I first heard about it, so I had no motivation to get it until the GoTY went on sale and my friends bought it and started playing it again.

Unfortunately, I know about Skyrim and know there will be DLC (hell, they had already stated what one of the DLC would be based around before I even knew the actual name of TES V). Despite every part of me screaming to wait until the GoTY edition comes out, It's just so hard to resist such a big release.

As a guy who really disliked all the Elder Scroll games up to this point I'm a teensy bit more than wary BUT from the streams I've watched there is a lot of great changes to the core game that'll probably lead to me enjoying it.

You should buy Skyrim, but first buy Dark Souls because it's amazing.

I'm downloading Skyrim for Xbox 360 right now. Can't wait. This stupid ISP never ceases to make me rage.

If you're insecure, then wait a bit, there's absolute no harm in that! You don't have to pre-order it. Most reviews will probably be available the same day the game releases, and when it does I'm sure fellow players are going to write their impressions on the internet.

I had a fleeting moment where I was unsure if I wanted to buy it, but ultimately, Bethesda does a good job, and most of their games are solid (especially The Elder Scrolls).

Let's also not forget that they took what people didn't like from Oblivion and used what people did like from Fallout 3 to improve upon it (hopefully this works out as well as they plan).

I'm gonna wait and see what people think about it after it's released. I don't feel like wanting to waste money on it yet...

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will blow the world away with it graphic and freedom. I just love the previous game, Oblivion, and according to Bethesda, Skyrim will be much, much larger and more free than Oblivion ever was. I'm currently and literally counting the minutes til tomorrow.

Well, if you look at Morrowind and then compare it to Oblivion, you'll see that the freedom was definitely something that was debatable. In Morrowind, there was roughly 3 or 4 times as many factions to join, but joining one prevented you from joining certain others (ex: you could only join 1 great house). However, the true freedom from Morrowind came from the fact that you could kill anyone, as opposed to Oblivion where most important NPCs are made unkillable. Of course this could cause problems in the long run, but it was just that extra bit of freedom that let you know that at any given time you could choose to go on a killing spree and wipe out every single person who is important to the story.

That being said, Bethesda has definitely done a great job in giving people freedom while playing their games.
