So I downloaded a few random F2P games like Warframe, ect ect......but they don't drop cards, I guess they need the DLC?
but am thinking TF2 drops them...
is there a list of f2p games that drop them without having to buy anything?

No F2P will drop cards without spending money in-game.

To my knowledge (but feel free to correct me if Im wrong) you do get a set of cards for game like TF2 (bought the game in orange box, long before it went F2P and I did got some cards) but apart that you indeed need to spend money in their in-game shop to get more

You only get cards for F2P games if you previously 'invested' in them during phases when they cost money, or buy marketplace items/DLC.

Both TF2 and DOTA2 cost money in the past, before going F2P.

Dota 2 has always been a F2P game.

There was an option back in the day to pay 30 bucks to get instant access to the beta.

It still always was f2p.

With your logic all games are free to play, after the initial cost to enter pre-alpha, alpha, beta, goty, gold, complete.

Disclaimer: utilitt costs are not included.

It's different with Dota 2. You didn't buy the game. You bought a pack of in-game items and gained access to the f2p beta at the same time.

No, you need to spend at least 10e in the shop (in TF2 I think.) Otherwise people would just create accounts and play the game/idle for a couple of hours and get cards.

I earned a card by playing to the free to play Loadout without paying anything. It says I can earn 2 more by playing it again.

because you "played" with it during the beta

I played it for the first, last and only time on the 13.02.2014, it wasn't in beta anymore at this time I guess. And I had just downloaded it for the first time too.

If you aquired beta access prior to game release, you are eligible for card drops. This works only for Loadout.

So Dungeonland is not in the same boat?

AFAIK, Dungeonlad was pay-to-play first and then turned into F2P with an optional "All Access Pass".

I guess cards should only drop for users that owned Dungeonland prior to this change or for users that bought the AAP. I can't confirm it, though.

No drops for previous owners, but all access pass gives one drop.

No f2p games "drop" cards, you get cards by buying items in the stores.

Only a few cards dropped and that was a mistake by Valve. That's why there are only a handful of cards and one booster (all of them much more expensive than a regular card or booster) on the market.

If games that are completely f2p would drop cards people would abuse it, just like people abused the TF2 drop system. They'd create hundreds of fake accounts to farm the cards over and over. People are that stupid, believe it or not.

I never understood, why would people waste time in a game they don't even love (while having not much free time), just for carddrops worth 8 cents?

You don't have to actually play the game. You can just let it run in the background while doing something else.

This is what i do for all the junk games from bundles that got cards added. While 8 cents isn't much, if you add up how many cards you get from random games from bundles you can make a mint. Not to mention the chance of getting a foil card which usually sell for at least $1 a pop then on top of that when you get all the drops for a game you get the chance to get card packs from it which are usually 30 or so cents or if opened can sell for a bit more with yet another chance at a foil.

But ya, i have made alot of money off putting cards i get up on the market which get turned into more games to play. (and in some cases also come with more cards to sell)

8 cents for one card. A game has 5 or more cards. I went to level 30 without spending any real money on cards. If I decided to keep the cards, I could make a sizable amount of wallet credit.

Sales total: 176,55€

Totally worth idling even if it's only few cents per card.

Lol. You can't get cards for free in F2P games. You have to spend money in stores. There's no such game that offers "FREE" cards
