Right now it's November in northern Wisconsin aka Minnesota 2.0 aka Canada 0.5.

It's cold as hell and my toes are freezing even with socks on but the heater's on. I really like the heater because it's situated on my room's ceiling and when it kicks in it makes a gentle sound while it filters in the heat. Unfortunately, it doesn't do it forever since it decides "well, 65 degrees is warm enough! My work here is done." D:

Things like the TV prevent me from sleeping, but things like rain and the heater are like lullabies for me.

So I guess my little discussion here is exactly what's on the tin, metaphorically speaking.

Do you have a noise or sound that helps you fall asleep?

View Results
I prefer things absolutely silent
A little background noise helps me drift to sleep
I could fall asleep in the middle of the Blitz
Don't know, it depends on the noise
It's not a noise, but an object (Comment what it is, please :0 )

Not thinking about shitty and sad things around me. Night is a tough time

Aaah, sleeping! My favourite hobby :D
I can fall asleep on will, with the exception if I've drunk too much coffee or if I drank coffee too late (unless it's just for a nap, then I can still fall asleep even right after having drunk the divine beverage that is coffee, don't ask me why I can sleep then but not if it's for the night)
Whether it's noisy or not doesn't matter, I could fall asleep during a concert if I wanted to. But I can't fall asleep if the music my much younger siblings listen to is played nearby, even if it's on the lowest possible volume.

But in your case, since you still feel cold even with the heater on I'd bury myself in several blankets (that's the english name for it, right?) and simply enjoy relaxing while waiting to fall asleep.

Rather silence as background noise. And for becoming tired: reading.

Netflix. Trying to watch The Expanse for the third time, fell asleep at every attempt. And my wife swears she never watched The 4400 (despite me remembering how extremely borign that was), so I joined her yesterday. I fell asleep somewhere between 15 to 20 minutes of the first episode.

I prefer darkness and silence but I can tolerate some noise, like heavy rain.

Generally I don't have trouble sleeping unless I'm stressed out about something. Going to bed and waking up at about the same time every day helps too.

I have a fish tank in my room, and i like the trickling sound of water that the filter makes. That or absolute silence.

I fall asleep really easily on public transport for some reason, even if people around me are drunk and fighting or breaking up with their partners over a messy affair or calling each other out as heretics and infidels or whatever else. Which is unfortunate if I miss my stop.

At home some noises will keep me awake but others won't and there doesn't seem to be any sense to it. I'll easily fall asleep while listening to heavy rain or storms, and if I'm tired I'll fall asleep while listening to people arguing violently on Talksport radio. If somebody else is listening to TV or music radio that will always keep me awake though, as will the central heating. I can sleep through a lot of animal noise (bird song, barking dogs, wailing cats, foxes being dicks, etc) but for some reason sea gulls and muntjac dear will always make me spring wide awake when it is their time of the year to kick off.

Nothing. Even when I want to sleep, I just lay in bed for ages until I actually go to sleep. Pisses me off.

My pup curls up next to me or lays on my chest. That knocks me out within minutes if I'm tired enough.
Outside of that, complete darkness (thick black curtains) and a fan for some white noise.
