I just subscribed to the steam forums thread and activated email notification so any time they post about maintenance I get an email.

Also, it is currently down for me as well.

EDIT: back up within 2 minutes. here is the thread with their announcements.

This happens all the time, why is it every time steam goes offline or updates people think its a summer sale,part of me wishes it would start just so people calm down a bit.

It will come sooner or later... :-). They just started midweek madness anyways, maybe in a couple days, maybe in a week or two, maybe they will even surprise us in 24 seconds, no one knows...
