I would love if SG made auto sender.

So when you create a giveaway, you can assign the key in the process.

When the winner is drawn, winner gets the key instant.

Just a thought! ^^

I like the idea but what if SG gets hacked or something. Then it would be SGs responsibility to get the game. And if they started storing keys, it would certainly be targeted.

you worry about game keys? heck, all our mail addresses are already stored in the DB, they are probably worth more on "the market".

Well one could use a separate email for the site. They get notification here anyway if they win so they could check their email if they win. But if SG starts storing thousands of game keys, it would be more tempting.

let's think this through with some assumptions and some facts.

1) a lot of giveaways only run for a few hours
2) most giveaway creators deliver within 24 hours
3) Even if an option to store keys is added, the giveaway creator can decide not to use it and deliver the key "the old fashioned" way

to really profit from hacking the database you would need a continued access to the keys. A one-time hack will only give you so much keys that are available for open giveaways that are key-giveaways where the GA creator decided not to deliver the key personally - which is probably not much.

and even if someone hacked the DB, no matter if one-time or continued access to the DB, what's he gonna do? pimp out his 5 Steam accounts? He can't pretty much "store" the keys for re-selling, because the key will be displayed to the winner once the giveaway is over.
okay, so we got a smart hacker who alters the key he took in the DB, so the winner gets a fake key -> the winner will notice that he can't redeem the key and get in touch with the GA creator, who hopefully still has the original key somewhere -> key redeemed, hacker gets nothing (if he didn't redeem the key in the meantime).

you are right that adding this option might attract hackers, but I doubt that it's worth the hassle for them. and imagine this: if there are 10 hackers then they need to be very quick to redeem the keys, first one wins :P

and if the feature does not work out it can always be removed.

You think too much :p

You have some valid points. But never underestimate the lengths a person would go to get free games. Also people sell their steam accounts. If people can make hundreds and thousands of accounts to idle farm in TF2 I don't think it would be too stretched to think they can make hundreds of steam accounts to sell off. And valve really won't revoke those keys. Of course it would only be successful if people use the feature in the first place, but most people (including me) are lazy. While I enjoy giving people the games myself, many people would probably use that feature.

Also, considering the number of giveaways open at any given time, I think they can get a good enough catch when ever they do it.

But I think the number of bundle games on the site might be the biggest deterrent to any would be hackers :p

I didn't go to the site much so I can't tell, but I don't think game miner is nearly as popular as SG (in terms of number of users). Correct me if I'm wrong.

No, the person who makes the giveaway has to agree with the terms of use which will say that Steamgifts will not be responsible.

People who would complain about keys not being available hardly reads anything. And no one reads ToS. It would be extra headache for cg. Of course this is all hypothetical what ifs.

It would be useful for big giveaways but for 'normal' ones, it shouldnt really be a problem to send every winner the game (without mentioning every risk it could take to the game and the site).

Sometimes when the winner is drawn you need to choose another winner cause the last one (banned, already have the game, ...)

Doesn't acomplish specific rules, blacklisted, has broken some rules and you report it, multiwinner (accident), multiaccount, facker/exploiter of the system,...

This is how two of the keys I won came, delivered through SG, but they were promotional GA's.. so I think there is code already on the site for this, but it might only be usable when you're giving away 10,000 keys at once. (Galactic Arms Race for example)

In theory a good idea, but I hope it will not be mandatory, the reason I say this is it will cause new subscribers to think twice before creating a give away;
When you've never won anything how sure are you this site is actually real and the key your entering isn't going to be sold on ebay of whatever?

I don't like this idea. If someone does a private giveaway and someone somehow gets access to it and wins, you should be able to re-roll.
