This is... insane. Did you get to finish any of the games? Congrats for the efforts, ty for the gibs and have a wonderful 2017! :)

Thank you.
To answer your question, I beat the shorter indie games, yes. I generally had between two to four hours a day to devote to whatever game, depending on my work schedule. This had a big influence on the games I chose to cover. If it was something substantial, it was generally something that I've already played and beaten before that I was just revisiting.
One of my goals for the new year is to get around to playing a lot of the longer games that I kind of had to pretend didn't exist last year.

I agree. Going to shoot for quality over quantity this year.

But how did you manage to do it? :O Wow, man. Happy new year. And thank you for the chance.

By not having a life for a year, basically. I treated it like a second job.

Darn, I really hope it was worth it. But seriously, good job! :O

Yeah, shooting for a much more reasonable pace this year. Thank you.

Wow! That's some goals man. Plus, the product ain't too shabby either - so, you can be proud of more than just the conscientiousness

that's a great project, congrats! i personally don't like to watch channels on youtube (don't take this personally, that's just me) and the only form of video I watch are online trainings. BUT on the other hand, I love to read about games. Finding this is awesome because now I have a huge amount of text to read on your blog. Bookmarked it for occasional readings! Thanks for sharing that!

No offense taken. I know it's not everyone's thing.
Thanks for reading.

btw, I'm glad you put Pony Island on your GOTY list. Probably the best I've played this year, hands down. (And I own Hyper Light Drifter - and you're right. It WILL consume your life)

Nah, screw up on my part. With so many keys, I was bound to do that.
I'll keep it like that for posterity.

The backlog never goes away. Especially with this place.

So, I've gone back and forth on making this post because I fear it's going to be super self-serving, but I wanted to share with everyone a recent accomplishment of mine. Also, I have a LOT of keys to give away, so that evens out the guilt a bit.
I've been a frustrated writer for just about as long as I can remember, and I've found it extremely difficult to make any sort of mark on the frequently changing world of games coverage. 2016 was the year when I just said "fuck it" and started my own blog, with the goal of writing about video games every single day in 2016.
Well, I did it. Not all of it was great. I don't think it's possible to write that frequently and have all of it be quality. Some personal issues in the middle of the year also forced me to miss some days, but I always made them up in the end. As of 11:59 on December 31st, I had covered over 400 video games in either written or video form.
(In a related note, I don't recommend anyone else ever attempt to do this.)
So yeah. Just something I thought some people may find interesting. The most recent post has a list of what I consider the best pieces I wrote last year, so you don't have to trudge through an index. I do intend on continuing to put out stuff in 2017, albeit at a much more reasonable pace.
But for now, I need a nap. Have some games.
