Not really excited, I don't like the look of this app

All I can see happening is the Microsoft fanboys backing Microsoft up the ass as if it's going to rule PC just like GFWL 'apparently' ruled PC when it was up. Generalizing over, I can't see this doing very well. Steam is successful for a reason.

The only thing MS could do to Windows to kill Steam is include a bad update for MSE.

I wouldn't call MS giving a second try to their GFWL experiment a Steam Killer... gonna take a lot more than that for Steam to fall.

It's just an app to access your XBox stuff from your Windows PC. It has nothing to do with PC games, at all.

If this means cheaper games - good luck Microsoft. Healthy competition is always welcome.

It doesn't. Publisher set prices and they can't just give some sites cheaper than others.

We'll see. I'm not a fan of monopoly, so I'm glad there will be more places to buy games. Even if prices will be the same - they will be doing something else to get more people. Every other form of activity is welcome too - like new auctions on steam, or workshop, or broadcasts.. I only hope there won't be new DRM layer.

Just read THIS (original founder of Xbox app in W10). It says nothing about Xbox games working on Windows. It's just Xbox Live app to buy games for Xbox and using social features.

Microsoft can barely compete with Sony(at least outside the US), leave it alone with Steam...

Just going to be gfwl 2.0, it will get next to no support and completely dropped in a year or two then they will ignore pc gaming completely for a few years then they will try gfwl 3.0. It is the same cycle with them.

I wonder when they will realize that we don't want xbox live or some other app/store on pc. We want games like Halo.

It wouldn't be a Steam Killer even if the entire Xbox One (or 360 as well, or even original in addition to those 2) libraries were available to play on PC through that somehow.

Most people here apparently don't understand what this is.

It's the profile page when you are signed in to xbox.com displayed in a mobile phone style window on your PC. i.e. this: https://live.xbox.com/en-US/Home?xr=socialtwistnav It has nothing to do with games distribution like Steam, nor playing Xbox games on PC.

We already have this "on PC", it's just a new view as an app/widget/whatever for the already existent Xbox players profile screen linked above.

According to the article, "The Windows Store in Windows 10 build 9901 has also been tweaked thanks to a new beta app that’s built-in. Unlike the current store, music and film / TV shows are included alongside apps and games. This could mean Microsoft is closer to integrating its Xbox Music and Xbox Video stores into the main Windows Store to offer all content in a single location."
