Yeah, I'm in Lower Hutt and I felt the 6.5 and a few others.

Wellington area caught it badly. Hope all's well with you and not too much damage.

Just a lot of shaking for me. Even so, I've got my backpack stocked with bottles of water and some extra clothing, and while I lack a torch, I've just done charging all my handheld game systems to use the backlights for that purpose. :P

Was half way through brewing a batch of beer when the big one struck. On well water, and the pump's electric, so that's pretty stuffed :( 20 litres of beautiful Belgian style ale destined for the septic tank ;__;

Too bad i can't do anything to help the new Zealanders. I too have experienced a earthquake here in Chile, the good thing is that i wasn't in the earthquake's epicentre, so i ended up with a few weak walls destroyed, and without power for like 2 weeks. The earthquake happened in the night and there was full moon so it was pretty clear to see how the light outside started to dissapear and a huge explosion ocurred far away, only to see later the weak walls going down. Well i hope all the New Zealander from Steamgifts are safe.

Pretty scary hurricanes here in Florida from time to time, but I would not want to imagine going through a natural phenomenon where Mother Earth herself turns against me, possibly to the point of trying to swallow me whole. My condolences to those enduring this tragedy.

Felt it all the way up in Otorohanga. I thought it was my cat rubbing against my chair at first, then thought maybe it was my leg having a twitch or something.
Good to know my response to earthquakes is up to code.

Any other New Zealanders on here been feeling the earth move? Pretty fucking terrifying here. Still no power, and a heap of aftershocks. Luckily Atomic Towers is still standing, despite a bit of broken glass. Hope everyone's ok :)
Stay safe, Kiwis of Steamgifts :)
