How about automatically hiding giveaways that are in the person's account? If the site already knows you have it and can't bid, would it be a pain to make it just hide them and clean up your list? If people say, "But I want to comment on them even if I have it!" how about adding a filter option in the new/open/closed/coming soon menu?

People keep suggesting this and they keep being pointed to the addon, maybe it should just be added to the FAQ.
EDIT: Though I guess people who didn't read the sticky for the addon mightn't have read the FAQ either...

As if it being sticky isn't enough. Really? He's creating a new thread without looking at the sticky'd threads. What makes you think he'd read the FAQ?

I'm talking about making it standard, but by all means be condescending.

This has been brought up many, many times previously. The addon is the solution. Use the addon.

Why not just use the addon?

Because it seems a lot more like a basic site feature, not something you should have to download an addon for. Can you imagine if every site required you to download an addon for functionality? It's a bad policy.

The site works fine. The addon is to customize the site beyond what the developer felt was needed. There are scripts for many popular sites to do things like that. No one requires it to be downloaded, and the site works fine without it.

It is a nice feature, but it adds more load to the server for the site to do it for you. It might just be too much for a free service to offer.
