We weren't buying the RU version, for fuck's sake. We just bought it from Steam. No option to select the version, eh?
P.S. "It was know before release that the RU Version will be Russian Only", source?
Comment has been collapsed.
No, that's not the same situation. In Germany, games are violence-cut because of the stupid laws and you always have an option buying uncensored german versions from Austria. Here, a greedy publisher tries to sell a region-locked game for the full price without any other option than trading.

Oh sorry, what I meant is that East Europe countries except Russia pay normal price or little lover (1 or 2 euros) for same limited content. That's why in Poland 1C Poland aka Cenega (crappy translations, thousands of problems with regional block, not able to buy DLC's from other source than from them) is hated

He refers to 1C, their typical answer to these problems are "We can't do it, because we haven't negiotated it with devs (but asked what they have done to solve the problem, they don't answer)" or "We will see what we can do(when obviously they are doing nothing)"

Oh. I said Valve because (I think) there are no restrictions.

Actually, the reason for the lower prices in Russia is simply a way to combat local piracy. Piracy has always been a huge issue in Russia, and I've heard estimates (from the industry) that over 85% of all software was pirated, and selling pirated games is far more common in Russia than most of the western world. So lower prices is just a way to compete with this market. Publishers set the prices that they figure will be most profitable (this is why our Australian friends have to deal with such high game prices).

What? Putin sux in IT questions.
I'm from Russia. Only reason for low cost- piracy in our country. We will never pay 50 bucks for any game. We will just go to torrent. We will use pirate servers for multiplayer. But we will never pay more than ~12 bucks for any PC game. It's kinda market traditions in our country

Well, it's not Steam's fault. It's 2K's and 1C's.
Comment has been collapsed.
Steam is not going to change versions if 2K made 2 versions of the game for a reason.
We. Are. Fucked.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, they will. I know people who've had their game changed if they live in the right area.
At least fucking try.

You're gonna need good proxy shell. Go to white hats forums to find some

Please, tell me how can I do it? Write to Support (if that, the game is going to be released before they respond)?
Comment has been collapsed.
You're probably right that the game will release before they respond. If you're sure you want a refund, don't play the game before they do respond. If you have significant playtime on the game by the time they get to your ticket, it's MUCH less likely that you'll be able to get a refund.
It sucks, I agree.
Comment has been collapsed.
I wrote to them; waiting. Not going to play, of course.
Comment has been collapsed.
Exactly that. I bought it for 45 Euros (When it was -10% off), I live in Lithuania and I don't understand Russian. Fuck them all.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't think it's 1C's fault. They have lots of steam games translated with no such restrictions. It's probably Gearbox policy.
I'm from Russia yet I'd prefer to play it in English and I am not going to buy a Russian only game. So I agree, this is completely outrageous.
Comment has been collapsed.
Did you check the appID? For example, for Lithuania, it's the same as the german one. Maybe this statement on the store's page is related to games bought in retail for cheaper price and then activated in Steam.
Comment has been collapsed.
I just checked... It's the normal ROW appID. Still, when I pre-ordered it I got "RU CIS" (now it's just RU).
Comment has been collapsed.
it may be just an error of steam, don't worry. Even if it will be russian-only, you can always refund it. I did it once when a game wouldn't run under Win7, solved it in a couple of days and the support didn't even ask for any proof or similar. The only problem back then was that the money was added to steam wallet, if it's important to you.
Comment has been collapsed.
I am hoping that it was an error. But why are there 2 different appIDs for Borderlands 2?!
Comment has been collapsed.
dunno :) what bothers me more: is it normal that you're paying a full price for russian region-locked versions? Or is it just B2 in particular?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's normal. I don't care if it's regionally locked, I just want to play with ANYONE and play the game in English.
Comment has been collapsed.
hmm, this is really weird shit, paying world price for region-locked games... I wouldn't buy any of such locked game from steam and use amazon instead since the prices don't differ. Till Steam or the regional publisher will realise they are doing it all wrong here. This is really a rip-off, man.
Comment has been collapsed.
They are only different if the game is a different version (cut/restricted in this case). It is strange though because the german version is confirmed to be the ROW version.
The storepage link usually stays the same (with the default app id), the only difference is the subscription id that changes with a games version. There is AFAIK no way of knowing the subscription id without manually looking for them in the content registry database.

Go fuck yourself.
Edit: I just saw that you're a newborn on this site that is trying to act "tough".
Comment has been collapsed.
Where does it say you are only playing with people from your country? I read it as saying it's only available in that language only, not that country only.
And honestly, if you are trying to get around the price restrictions between Russia and USA, you had it coming after this long of a time.
Comment has been collapsed.
"If you are trying to get around the price restrictions between Russia and USA"... What the fuck are you talking about, (Yatter)man? Btw, the part about not being able to play with other people is in the 1C's website.
Comment has been collapsed.
I still don't get it. I had it coming? Or the Europe? I bought it myself, for 45 Euros (with discount) from Steam store.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm sure that Steam can find dumbfucks that were doing it, other people don't have to suffer.
Comment has been collapsed.
Agreed on the pricing cuts people try. It's an assumption of course if that's what he did or not, but if RU versions were exactly the same as NA / ROW / etc. then there would be no reason for anyone to buy at full price when purchasing through the RU setting sometimes has prices much lower than we'll see for many months.
Comment has been collapsed.
that's what i did! just checked their site again now and my key was ready, so it's now in my steam library with a pre-load option showing. i'm still not done playing the dlc from the first borderlands though...
Comment has been collapsed.
yeah but isnt that always the way with fans. nothing is ever steams fault. its an innocent third party that is completely controlled by faceless global corporations, and poor valve has zero control over anything that happens to it :( how did gabe ever let it come to this.
Comment has been collapsed.
as a customer, I don't really care who's fault is this. At the end of the day, I will go and buy from someone, who can provide me with best quality product. It's more valves loss, than mine. It's their platform, they can do something for sure, to stop this madness.
Comment has been collapsed.
Contact support and demand a refund. You have a right to it as the game hasn't been released yet, you've paid full price for a pre-order and suddenly the publisher/distributor changes the terms of the sale. That's simply not kosher.
Also, send complaints to Gearbox and 2K Games.
Comment has been collapsed.
I tried contacting Gearbox, but Support is not working for me.
Comment has been collapsed.
Even russian gamers mostly don't want to play games in russian language.
That is some major bullshit, folks.

"Purchases of Borderlands 2 made in Lithuania will be playable in Russian language only". RUSSIAN LANGUAGE ONLY. And... Those who were RIPPED OFF by 2K (or 1C, or whoever made this language crap) will not be able to play with people that have ROW version. Nope. ALSO, Season Pass is not going to work with RU version, we will have to rebuy it from 1C's website.
I bought Borderlands 2 from Steam store, I should get the same thing everyone else gets.
Btw, it's not Lithuania only, half of Europe and even some people from USA got the same shit, Google it, threads in Steam and Gearbox forums.
P.S. Normal version (ROW) and fucked-up version (different appIDs).
Edit: This...
