Most Ubi games need Uplay anyhow so why do people keep pointing out it is UPLAY!.It is a Ubi GA why would they give Steam keys?

.I get why people do it and use Steam only I just laugh at the ones who boycott u-play then I see them playing Far Cry 3 on Steam. How can you boycott a platform then play a game that uses said platform that you curse to hell.

I just think imo it is silly to miss a good game just because of the platform it is on.It's just not that though when only one platform dominates due to lack of competition prices and deals along with other things start to dwindle.Though I guess I am part of a rare bunch who actually dislikes Steam as a platform overall and likes how simple some of the other ones are.

Gaben thank's all the diehard Steam only users for making it a monopoly and allowed him to stop making most games and use Steam as his new income stream. Also, his other plan of cheap games and big sales to get people addicted has also worked now that most people will only shop on Steam he and the Publishers can now lower the deals and make more money!

So i say keep buying only on Steam but quit bitching about the damn sales then.If you make something a monopoly you can not bitch about prices due to lack of any competition. You can not have your cake and eat it.

P.S i figured Ubi would do a AC game but did they have to pick one the worse of the lot???And why are the rest of the games repeat freebies wow how nice of them.Makes me think of EA bundles which tend to be cannon fodder for previous free games with one or two high priced tiered games and tier locks!

Blind fanboyism is always bad, but in this particular case, it's utterly ridiculous.
I'm the complete opposite: I want Ubisoft games which require Uplay only on their platform, because having them on Steam would just offer limited benefits (cards and achievements on a few games), while needing to run two DRMs at once.
Not to mention you would be limited to the Steam store (and their rare, and usualy forgettable sales) if you want to buy DLCs.

Nope, you don't need both DRMs running at the same time if you don't want, games that use uPlay are added to the uPlay library even when bought via Steam. So you could just go and play the game on uPlay directly if you don't want to open both.

But if you purchase the game on Steam, you get to use your friend list. I dont have most of my steam friends on uplay.
And if you really want, you can just start the game form uplay directly even if you purchased the game on steam I think. So you dont really need to use 2 clients for this.
I have purchased a lot of games simply because my friends own them. On steam its easy to tell which of my friends have played how much of which game. On uplay this isnt an option.
Plus if I purchase the steam version, I get the choice to purchase the DLC directly on uplay on steam. I personally prefer buying from steam because I always have money in my steam wallet from selling cards, booster packs, etc. Even if you end up spending the money directly, its good to have the option.

So really, there isn't much reason to want the games unavailable on steam.

We'll I guess time played also depends on your friend's.I have a lot who have so many games that time played does not always reflect how much they like the game and so on due to owning so many.Which is fine it still a good way for most to use it as a way to see how much interest someone has in a game and might play it with you.

I am playing the free weekend of The Division.I had to actually add the person I met and wanted to play with again within Uplay I could not just add them using Steam and join them directly in a game using my friend's list.If you ask me two of the most important and biggest selling point's os Steam is not working when you buy it on Steam. Those two features are adding them as a friend on Steam and then using your friend's list to join their game directly.

So in the end imo most do it because of being lazy and not wanting to take 10 seconds out of their life to load Uplay on its own.Sweet my friend is playing X Ubi game I can join him all I have to do is load the game first then wait for the game to load then find them on my friend's within Uplay so I can join them this is so much easier then joining them within Steam with my friend's list.

I could just load Uplay and join them directly instead of using Steam which makes me load Uplay and do these steps after i load the game or go within Uplay itself and join a friends game in one shot using Uplay.I can thank false hate form making Uplay keys cheap!.I think i will just get The Divsion as a Uplay Key,cheaper and easier to use that way.

Are you sure about the dlc thing i do not see how that would matter which platform you use.I also found out what a pain it is using Steam with a Uplay games. It turns out the most important feature of Steam while playing a Uplay game within Steam is missing.I have to add them as a friend using Uplay and not using Steam and I can not join them until after I launch the game or log into Uplay itself.
So pretty much Steam just awards me with cards and so on but the most important feature of joining their game from within Steam and adding them as a friend using Steam is not working. Now I am really confused as to why people are that married to Steam to do it this way

Found this out while playing the free weekend of the Division..I have not dealt with a lot Uplay not because I hate it but most the games as of late have just not really got my attention.

Yeah that's bs for us that waited. This 30 day giveaway was a waste of time tbh, with the exception of the monthly and final giveaway AC3, everything else was worthless crap.

Same here, the 1st version I have was activated in Steam more than a year ago (and since it has to use the uPlay DRM, it appeared in my uPlay libary, obviously) , and when I got the 7 game pack it duplicated

So it's been 11h since this post got another reply, I just need to get something off my chest! here's my autistic/ocd rant:

I don't know how others feel but I don't give a DAMN about wallpapers and gifs+they aren't even nice to use FFS
I have been collecting/keeping watch for Ubisoft freebie games throughout all the months of the year (already had bought the crew and ac3 a long time ago)..and now other people got them all at once in a weekend...wtf Ubisoft
+why aren't there any new games! it's gonna be Christmas and I have yet to see anything new.
They could have given out an old ghost recon game for example, but no, no new games.
Oh and that 300 thing ended within a few seconds, and considering there are hundreds of millions (if not billion+) of players..what's that in terms of player base? 0.00001% of winning? k

This Ubisoft Christmas advent thing has LAME rewards, it's an EPIC FAIL.

Oh lets see people who will reply to me defending the company again... actually I'll save you the trouble; don't bother.

Also AC Rogue and Far Cry 4 have been on my watch list for way too long and I am surprised I haven't got them yet. The reason is 1) price is too much and 2) the cheapest version is usually on Uplay only when I'd prefer it to be Steam (and then it links to Uplay).

Everything has a price, especially when it's advertised as free.
Think of this as a crafty marketing strategy: they gave a few games (which they milked enough) for free, to (hopefully) get more players hooked to their platform.

Even more visible with their latest freebie, Assassin's Creed III, with the season pass conveniently on sale around the same period, as well as franchise packs which skillfully avoid the exact same game they're giving for free.

In the end, however, they're still giving stuff for free.
Yes, it's most likely a marketing strategy, as I said above, but you're not forced to get hooked to their platform if you don't want to.

How many times did Steam give free games? I don't recall many, and their quality was nowhere close to these ones'.
Ubisoft gave more (and better) free games in 6 months than Valve in 6 years...

By the way, I completely agree with all your points, and I won't bother defending any company, but we should at least be grateful to them for giving us free games, they could have given nothing instead, they weren't forced to do so anyway.

yep I am greatful for the games, not just to me but that they give them out for everyone, it just would have been even better if there were different games this time around, even really older ones...as long as they are different

The giveaway this past weekend was for those that may have missed out on one or more games. They already gave away a game a month for 7 months, including AC3 this month. They didn't have to give a damn thing. I mean how much more do you want? Just be happy that you got what you got instead of demanding more like a spoiled entitled brat. You don't sound grateful for anything. But then I already saw from your posts yesterday that you are quite the unreasonable and irrational person so it comes as no great surprise.

edit: oh and blacklisted right back at you. I don't BL people for disagreeing in a discussion or expressing their own opinion as you have because I'm not an infantile impetuous child, but I'm more than happy to return the favor for a loser such as yourself. Merry Christmas you filthy animal.

edit 2: If you didn't get that last line then go watch Home Alone. Maybe in the process you can learn something about what it means to be grateful.

Says the person whose conduct from one forum thread to another seems to habitually be that of a child and who blacklisted me for disagreeing with them on a topic yesterday. Again, take a good look in the mirror as you are the epitome of the pot calling the kettle black. I'm done here, because once again I am not going to waste any more of my time than I care to on yet another fool on the internet.

"This Ubisoft Christmas advent thing has LAME rewards, it's an EPIC FAIL."

Let's talk about the events form Valve, 2K, EA, Square Enix, Capcom... Oh Wait

Comment has been collapsed.

What are we waiting for exactly?
-Valve has many F2P games and if it wasn't for them you wouldn't be here-they have the Christmas sale coming up, many games are a steal.
-2K has been on humblebundle. Capcom has had some games there on offer.
-EA have given out games like nfs in the past, and are actually doing something on ORIGIN.
-Square Enix has their Christmas Bundle but yeah it was a ripoff and people asked their money back in Europe.

Valve is earning money with dota and tf2. Also with the sale. it's not like they would gift something.
Ubisoft was also on Humblebundle and also had sales (they have a sale right now i think)
Also EA had given games before, like ubi did. But there is not Christmas-Thing
Square Enix sold something for christmas, ubisoft gave something away.

I just want to say, you can hate ubisoft but they had a nice idea with this 30 days of giveaways and I would not call it lame. Other publishers gave nothing.

Well, the first message has two lists. The first list was what was actually being given on each day and the second was a educated guess as to what was going to be given and was sometimes right and sometimes wrong. So is that what was actually given on day 30?
