Just curious - I used to backup some of my games but they take up so much space these days I'm tempted to just say, "Screw it."

There's always a possibility of Valve/Steam going bye bye... but I dunno if I can be bothered to spend the time and money to do this.

cheshirecatgirl makes a good point - backing up can save you time when reinstalling OS/get new computer {crap - can't edit polls lol}

PS: Do games with limited installs DRM count backup restores as a seperate install (I'm guessing yes)

PPS: theemu linked a discussion involving this topic that Steam has addressed before

Do you backup games from your Steam Library?

Yes - you never know o_o
Nah - Steam will always be here - and it will survive long after humanity has ceased to exist
Potatoes is the answer

I'm soon to receive a new PC, guess I should look into it since I see so much mention of "only when I jump from computer to computer."
I don't know anything of how to computer (or much else, even)

I think steam will never shut down because they take huge amounts of money on it. I see no reason that it can be shut down because the game will always be played.
