My favourite ending I've seen in a game would be Dishonored. Mainly because my jaw dropped when it happened. It was so surprising and a massive shock.
I was at the top of the tower at the end of the high chaos ending, Admiral Havelock was threatening to jump off with Emily. I didn't believe him and walked up to him, and he jumped.

So, overall, I'd say literal endings to me are unimportant, unless I deeply care about the story or if it's an on-going franchise.
Now what is always important is the section of the game which can be classified as the "end", if games were separated to beginnings, middles and ends.
A good example of this is The Witcher 2, which I'm currently in the middle of. The game has 3 chapters and in my opinion, the game should have a strong 3rd chapter because while it's the end of the game, it's still a noticable part of the game. Since this game is also in a franchise, I'd expect them to have at least a mediocre ending. I'm not expecting a perfect ending though, considering that they are in the middle of a franchise.
But let's take another game, which created insane amount of outrage.... Mass Effect 3. I'll be the first to say that people who hated the ending to Mass Effect 3 are dumb. "Why is that?", you might ask. For a simple reason. This is nothing compared to the actual franchise. And don't be mistaken, this wasn't just the end of the game. It was the end of the franchise, which means that it essentially wrapped up around 100 hours of content. Now sure, Bioware wrote themselves in a corner and they had no way to actually finish the game properly without a plethora of different endings. They'd need around 20-30 of them. And yes, that is what they'd actually need. If they had... say 3 different endings that are determined from a couple of your choices, then the shitstorm would stay the same. People would complain that their choices didn't reflect on the ending and everything's boo-hoo-so-bad.
This is 30 minutes out of a 100 hour franchise. I get the point of wanting some perfect ending that's tailored for you, but I also am genuinely frustrated at how those same people had adored the franchise up to that point and then when it came down to the ending, they just threw it all away and declared Mass Effect to be an awful franchise.
Personally, I had great adventures in that game. I heard about the awful ending and the controversy surrounding that. I came to the point where the end came and.... it was sub-par. Sure, being sub-par sounds like a bad thing, but the par was almost impossible to achieve. It's like only liking games that are 9.5/10 or higher. You'll just block yourself off from good experiences. People expected perfection and they didn't get it. And while Bioware fucked themselves over, so did the players. They set impossible standards and they got burned. It's their own fault as well. It's just the stupid hype culture. People always hate hype culture, until they themselves get enamoured with something and they start expecting greatness. When they finally get let down, they scream, moan and blame everything but themselves.
Sure, no one should hype their stuff too much, but companies want their products to be successful. In a perfect world this wouldn't be an issue, but since this isn't a perfect world, we should be prepared for something to go wrong.
But as for my last example, I'd take 35MM. A lesser known indie title that I enjoyed.
It's stand-alone and it does its thing. The journey's pretty good. Even with flaws, I remember the experience dearly. The ending though... well, the ending was hot garbage. All that I was thinking was just "Okay, whatever.", because I had a great time overall.
So, my overall thought would be this. Don't put your expectations so high for them. Who cares if the last 20 minutes suck if you had a fun 20 hours before that.
Maybe I'm just crazy. I really don't know.

I'd say that a good ending is quite important to me.
I don't like abrupt endings, when it feels like the story is still going on but all of a sudden - the end! Like the developers just run out of ideas. Nothing ruins a good story like an abrupt ending that leaves much to be desired.
I also tend to dislike happy endings. I like my games/movies/books to end on a slightly depressive note :)

I don't know about y'all but Nier: Automata had me crying at the end. That game was so emotional. TTwTT
I also really liked the ending to Forget me not as well. It was satisfying. I ended up enjoying the game more than I thought it would.
I don't want to go into detail about any of the ending because spoilers.
EDIT: I completely forgot about Hatoful Boyfriend.. (Don't judge me.) The story was a little weird but the ending was shocking. It's a bigger game than you think it is.

I like too when there is a satisfying ending.
Otherwise it can leave a bitter taste or discourage from playing it.
The last one i played was The trail, i was super hyped during the full 100h i played it.
And then the ending was so disappointing, i thought "But what i've done with these 100h ?!!" XD

One of my favorite game endings would have to be metal gear solid 4. I love the fight between snake and liquid as the soundtrack plays.

Most recent game I played through and beat was LISA, so I'll talk about that. Great game with a great concept and theme and ends with a solid finale. Probably one of the best games I've played that has a serious and interesting concept too it.

No, I played it and the real issue is that the DLC addresses the flaw in the game's overall story : It wasn't resolved and the resolution would, unfortunately, include such a boring conclusion as killing the doctor. This is directly linked to the 'secret' pain-mode lab section, and it ends up being the meat of the story. It just ended up being an issue of how the story was written requiring a very specific ending. The DLC is fine, though. It still centres around Buddy and, I mean, it addresses what her role in the world is and the issues she has to face(which IIRC is that everyone wants to kill her but I forget why, I think she chooses to kill the 'warlords' because that one guy tries to take over).
