1) Is it legit to create giveaways with non-steam games/keys or any activation methods other than Steam's email gifts?

2) Is it legit to create giveaways with games purchased in Greenmangaming (specially the non-steam versions they sell). Has anyone tryed to do this? I have never bought there so i don't know how it works. What about Greenmangaming's Steam keys?

3) They seem to have their own download software (Capsule) wich aparently doesn ot require keys. Is it compatible with Steamgifts? If yes... is it legit/possible to create giveaways with capsule-dependant games? Has anyone tryied it?

Thanks in advance, have a good weekend and good luck with your entries =)

EDIT: in fact, some of the offers i was browsing at Greenmangaming appear featured in this site's twin sister-web http://www.steamgamesales.com/ i don't see how would they consider those games non legit in one of their sites and legit in another.

I don't know, i have seen oficial developer/featured giveaways in wich they just send you a desura game, a plain serial or even in some cases a bare executable.

That's why i ask.

I have scarcelly read the rules, but i dont know them by memory and i just cant read the entire faq everytime a question pops out. I usually do a ctrl+f search of some keywords and read the base and giveaway rules and if i cant find anything related to my question then i start a thread.

I dont see what common sense has anything to do with this. It's not like its a scam.

Those are legit and working games, just from a different source.

There are only 2 games that are non-steam: BF3 and Minecraft. Everything else must be redeemable on Steam.
EDIT: also when you will go to "Create giveaway" section there is statement, quote: "Important: All gifts should be Steam redeemable CD keys or Steam gifts only."

well i have won 4 games and 3 of them i believe break the rules, one is a beta, one is a desura based download (Bloody Trapland) and other is just an executable download (Oozi: Earth Adventure)

All three were official developer/featured giveaways.

I feel like i'm missing something.

These are dev giveaways, they kind of break rules, but once they get trough Greenlight you will get Steam key for them. Guns of Icarus is just beta, you have to deal with it. Dota 2 is in beta and it's still allowed to be gifted here.

also, forgive me if i ask again... but where are those rules written? Everyone here is chastising me and i just cant find a word about that in the FAQ.

The closest i find is that some "toxic key" games are forbidden to use, but no word about bf3 or minecraft or non-steam games.

"All gifts SHOULD be Steam redeemable CD keys or Steam gifts only"

My english is not perfect, but i think should is a conditional and does not imply obligation.

In any case, this still does not rule out Greenmangaming's Steam keys, does it?

Ok thanks.

Keep in mind that some people before you had said it was not fine, understand my doubts.

Yes, what of it.

My point is that i don't see how that is not legit if the very owners of the site consider those game webs trusted sources.

1) It has to be valid key you can activate on steam. It doesn't have to be in your inventory and you don't have to mail it using steam's gift mailing system.

2) If shop gives you steam keys you can gift this steamkey. Other than that no. (for example just very few GMG games are steamworks)

3) No. It has to be steam game or key you can activate o steam and get the game added to your steam library.
