I played The Long Dark for a bit at a buddy's place. It's pretty fun given it's current stage of development (early access).

He has a beast PC. Maxed out it was kinda laggy at times. Some textures were iffy and there were some collision issues, nothing game breaking though. It still seemed, to me at least, to run pretty decently.
But, for an early access game, it wouldn't be a bad idea to add it to your wishlist to track the development. I'm holding off myself for now on purchasing it...Stuck playing This War Of Mine. :)

Fallout new vegas is worth to buy and play, but the survival system is a bit of a joke, there is not really any "survival" challenge with battling against hunger/thirst/fatigue, food and drink come by stacks (especially if like me you have an habit of stealing everything you can in games)
Stranded deep, is actually really buggy and don't have much content (as we can expect of an early acess), you may want to check that game later when it will be more stable
The other didn't test so i can't tell you about

FNV can become a great survival game if you add a mod like Project Nevada to enhance the survival system values (more scarce supplies of food, higher prices, faster "needs" rate), same with Skyrim and Fallout 3 (even Oblivion has a rudimentary survival mod)

Banished. The only thing it misses is the battling with wild life.

Deus and Robinson's requiem. You don't get more survival than that. And then there's Miasmata.

You might check out "Life is Feudal". It has some things you are looking for but at same time some you dont want. Otherwise there were many survival mods for games like Gothic 1 (Diccuric had some plans in taht direction in the past, did not follow them since then), Elder Scrolls 3 (Morrorwind had hundreds of survival mods in the past, its been a loooong time i did play the game, cant remember any names today), Skyrim (Did not try any survival mods for that game myself, just saw a bunch on Nexus in the past)

Stranded Deep is a good survival game, though there are a few bugs (to be expected from a made game about 6 days ago). It is Generally Good performance but can lag a bit when in the sea. The game does get repetitive after a while, but overall, it is a fun game.

Well wouldn't say it is a pure survival game. I mean you could play FNV Hardcore mode without killing/encountering anybody and just focusing on food/water/sleep but it doesn't make it a survival game now is it?

So every now and then I open this thread as I am looking for pure survival games to play and I wonder if any of you guys know any (even on greenlight/kickstarter etc) or have an opinion on the current titles.
Pure Survival (not survival horror) means:
So far I know of five pure survival games on Steam:
also Fallout New Vegas (Hardcore mode has strong pure survival elements to it), and basically Minecraft
