Should I get the vanilla versions or GOTY?
I wish i knew that before i've got skyrim. I'm still waiting for normal prize for dlc's because getting legendary at this point (having base game) is a waste :< Well... Maybe when they'll release Elder Scrols 7/8 skyrim legendary will be given for free on some weird giveaway site. Or at least it's gonna be bundled numerous of times. Yes.

Most of people say that Fallout 3 has problems on Win 7/8/10. That would be risky to buy FO3 (want to buy as well but... i hesitate)
New Vegas DLCs are really good. Especially Old World Blues, so buy GOTY edition. Also, Bethsoft don't discount DLCs reasonably, so buy them all already.

Fallout 3 problems on Win 7/8/10 is mostly because Bethesda's too lazy to push out a product update for the Steam version, they do tell you how to fix it yourself though:

Get both GOTY versions and install the Tale of Two Wastelands mod. That allows you to play Fallout 3 through New Vegas, essentially ridding you of any potential incompatibility issues.

GotY/Ultimate definetly. Also um, whats your region? Base Price just now is $6.79 US for each. https://isthereanydeal.com/#/search:fallout;/scroll:%23gamelist , and gamesplanet is around $3,40 US.

A friend bought vanilla and installed NV dlc... steam didn't object, lucky him! But if they have some good GOTY discounts better to play on the safe side of the road ;)

+1 Almost exactly what my boyfriend said and he's a huge Fallout fan. I think it's better to look at all the DLCs and decide which ones seem interesting to you. If there's only 1, then I don't think it would be worth it to grab the GOTY/Ultimate. :]

DONT BUY FALLOUT 3
Not because of the quality of the game but because of compatibility issues. It doesnt work well out of the box in most PCs and needs plenty of workaround. Pirate it and see if there is any problem like crashing, if not then buy it

These used to regularly go on sale for 75% off with the DLC, but since the FO4 hype they haven't been discounted as much. Unless you're planning to play right away, just wait. This is just the fall sale, the winter sale will be here just weeks after and they'll either have the same or bigger discount then.
Get all the DLC for both if you plan to play with mods. A lot of mods require the DLC, especially the Tale of Two Wastelands, which you should use if you get both (it lets you run FO3 in the updated FNV engine).

There are rumors going are around that there won't be a winter sale at all. To be honest i only started paying attention to fallout recently after i tried out the first one. But if i remember correctly, the winter sale last year wasn't that great,

There WILL be a winter sale, it'll just be slightly different than usual.

I think going from vanilla for both ($4.98) to GOTY for both ($13.58) is a big jump. I could buy 2 or 3 games with that money. SO my question is...is the DLC really worth it?
