Humble monthly, yay or nay?
Going for this subscription is akin to preordering: You're putting down money up-front, without any guarantee that the product will be worth it.
Here's a little experiment for you to try. Take the normal retail price of the games from this bundle you are interested in, and only these games. Divide the total by 4 to simulate a 75% discount you'd get during normal steam sales. Compare that to $12. Consider that you had no clue what you'd get for that $12. Was the gamble worth it?
In my case, I'm interested in Besiege and Valkyria Chronicles. Maybe Grimrock 2. So that's $13. Or just $1 more than the monthly bundle cost. Fuck, I'd take a $1 premium to know what I'm paying for any day.

Going off lowest historical prices:
Legend Of Grimrock 2 - $5.99
Saints Row IV - $3.99
Besiege - $4.89
Towerfall Ascension - $3.74
Valkyria Chronicles - $4.99
Lethal League - $4.75
Sanctuary RPG (I'm assuming Black Edition) - $3.99
So $12 for $32 is not bad but I still feel kinda disappointed, I mean SRIV not even GOTY edition? and the normal edition was already bundled before so...I'm not sure how next month will go since Towerfall Ascension looks less interesting than Grimrock.

already had the 2 games that were interesting to me (sr-v and besiege) ... added the rest to my library, but probably will never play any of them....i'll let it run for another month, if that is as crappy as this months i will cancel and stay away from that offer.

I'm going to stay subbed. I only owned two of the games which is better than I expected.

I didn't have any of the games, but I wouldn't normally have purchased most of them either. I'll give the games a shot since I have them, but still - I essentially spent $12 for 1 game I really wanted, a few that I'm willing to keep to try, and SR4, which I wanted but not without the DLC (so I get a little CV out of it). Altogether, the value I feel I got out of it is equivalent to no more than about a 75% discount, probably closer to 60%. I almost always wait for at least 75% discounts on Steam directly, and then I know exactly what I'm purchasing for my money. It was a fun experiment, but no thanks.

It was basically two very solid Humble Weekly $6 BTAs mushed together. I don't regret the purchase at all since I definitely would have bought those weeklys, but for a blind buy subscription every month - its still extremely iffy, especially if we start getting more repeats or cheaply available / rebundled games like Sanctuary Black. This month's bundle was definitely worth it value-wise, just not super-amazing for a first month roll out like some of us were expecting.

For me it was Besiege, Legend of Grimrock 2 as games I actually genuinely wanted to get at some point and that's it.
As for the rest I already own SR franchise so SR 4 is not that appealing to me, I also already own SanctuaryRPG Black Edition. Sadly the ones I already have were bundled before so I believe they do not provide any significant CV boost either?
So much for games "never bundled before"... Well, I guess for what I got out of this bundle, I will give it a shot for another month, but if the result is the same disappointment, I will unsubscribe.

Nothing interested me, perhaps Besiege? and I already have Saints Row 4 and Sanctuary RPG.
Giveaway time, I think.

Already owned Saints Row, Besiege, and Valkyria beforehand, so I was definitely disappointed. From the clues I was guessing and hoping for Binding of Isaac and Crypt of the Necrodancer, but tis a bit of a shame. I'm not super angry, because I went in knowing I didn't know what would come beforehand, but I wish there were more/better games.
Also, why can't Valkyria be put on steamgifts? As well as some other games too?
Also agreeing with disappointment in the "no bundled" message. I got SRIV from the bundle last year

I'm still subbed for next month because I'm stupid, but I regret it. If next month is bad, even I'm out.
It was categorically the lowest value bundle this month. Sticker price, it clocks in lower than Jumbo 5, the Total War bundle, and at least the last four weeklies if not more, at a paltry value of $105 for a higher than usual price of $12 for everything. It's not even that the game selection was mediocre at best (they picked games most people own because of their age, and the few games that I didn't own I don't care about for $12) and only Valkyria Chronicles stands out as something that I would buy a top tier for, and even that not at $12. It's pretty pathetic really, since Humble has typically been at least okay on bundles, that the one thing they try to hype for a whole month completely fails to deliver and alienated a fairly significant (if the poll is within, let's say a +-5% margin of error, with maybe a 40% rate of people who didn't buy it saying they're glad they didn't fall for it and a 10% rate of people who didn't buy it who wanted to buy it, that's a pretty significant skew- up to 60% or more of subscribers regret their purchase using terrible mathematics) portion of their customer base by failing to read what games people wanted as opposed to already had or did not want. It's a pretty big failure from the titan of the bundle sites, and definitely one that hit them pretty bad. While I'm not boycotting Humble (still subbed for next month, because stupidity) it does shake my trust in their ability to read their consumer base (ditto this weekly, with Secret Ponchos, a game that was free multiple times already, in the $9 tier).

I was thinking about whitelisting you for this very eloquent post but turns out I have you whitelisted already. Huh. :P

I'm glad I didn't subscribe. Only 2 of the 7 games would've been interesting to me.
That's not to say this monthly bundle is a bad thing:
If you only have a few games in your library and time enough to play more I can imagine you are in love with this monthly deal. None of this applies to me, so I didn't subscribe and I won't.

I had none of these games so I'll wait till next month.
BUT something is wrong either with the price or with the games offered.
The games in the list could all have been in a usual bundle for about the same price. So what's in there for me to compensate the fact that I'd didn't know in advance what games would be bundled ?
It's either too expensive (it could be $5 since it's a blind guess) or too crappy (at least, HB could give the full SR franchise with all DLCs).
But maybe something went wrong with the publishers ? HB are usually pretty generous and I guess this is what happened. I'll stay till next month at least.

The games are pretty high quality. I just feel like they should really not add previous "bundle favorites" because most bundle-goers would have already bought the previous bundles if they truly contain great games.
Will be subbing again depending on how this month's hints look. Also, I have no idea why people are complaining about SanctuaryRPG. The page promised 1 Hot Title, 1 Relevant title, 1-2 Hit Indies and 1-2 Hidden Gems. SancutuaryRPG indeed falls under the "Hidden Gems" category, so people should expect at least 1 game to be something completely unlikely.

I'm going to try it out. The games seemed really nice to me.

Yeah, I feel pretty scammed, as the first one had a great collection of games, both indi and mainstream, this is pure super cheap indi, and I sadly even already had over half of them, the total value of the games was just barely enough for the monthly fee with steam having all the big sales right now too.
All of my active giveaways are the entire set, as I didn't the very few games I didn't already have.

I forgot to canceled the damn thing in time :( wasn't impressed with last bundle at all expect much more from humble with a 12USD blind bundle, already had two of them & three missing DLC, I thought their hot title would have been a lot hotter than saints4 too

I know there are already threads on this.
I rue subscribing to humble monthly and cancelled my subscription almost instantly. What about you guys?
I also would like to know if the games are going to be counted as bundled or not
