If you only need a normal mouse, get this and save your money.
I'd only spend 100$ for 5 years guarantee and no extra costs when sending it in.
My past experience with Logitech the past years has been the quality isn't worth the premium price any more.

Well, I've been using ROCCAT Kone Pure for quite some time and it still works like a charm. And considering the quality of the mouse, the cost of it is very reasonable.

I use the CM Storm Xornet, only has two extra buttons not including the adjustable DPI buttons (a back and forward button for your browser, can be programmed to other stuff) It's super comfy and relatively cheap. It's really good quality and I got it for about $25USD on sale, paid the full $50 for it after the first one broke (I stood on it and the scroll wheel stopped scrolling). Price seems to have increased from what I paid 2nd time to $60 still very good price.

I use the Razer Imperator for quite some time now (my second one, actually - 2012 edition) and am very satisfied with it. highly recommended.

You should chose a few mouse online based on their technical details and then go to a shop and try their shapes/weight out.
I personally use a Razer Deathadder (super comfortable ergonomic shape, the only extra buttons are 2 on the side) and a Control mouse mat, works perfectly for me.

Don't use Deathadder if you are a palm user. It is marketed as a palm type too, but it doesn't really fit well to palm grip. It is a weird hybrid.
However if you ain't into fps games or other games that require very fast precision, then it shouldn't matter all that much.

Maybe not for gaming, but how can anyone browse the web without the basic back/forward side buttons?
Comment has been collapsed.
We exist.
I have my side buttons bound to alt+tab and the other one's ctrl+w.
Makes it much easier to browse.

We're talking just the two buttons on the side right? So essential. Heck, I always choose the first one for the use button in games. Who wants to press a keyboard key for use? It's much easier while looking at something with the mouse to also press the mouse button.

I agree, I have a cheap wireless $15 Logitech wireless mouse. So for no problems, I don't no fancy expensive mouse to play games.

If you ever want to play and FPS games you should find a mouse with a good sensor. (Note that I'm coming from 2000+ hours of CSGO experience haha...)
Look for a mouse with an optical sensor, laser sensors have acceleration.
As well find something that is 500-1000 Hz as this will make the mouse more accurate and will have a higher tracking speed.
Here are some great mice I'd recommend:
Steelseries Rival (Amazing sensor, ergonomic, good build quality, affordable price) - A popular choice
Razer Deathadder (Ergonomic, Great sensor, however cheap switches that break often)
Any Zowie Mice (Always have top of the line sensors and have been designed by CSGO and quake pros. You can find mice that are "palm" and "claw" style on their website. Thes emice are amazing but are generally a bit more pricey.)
If you would like to know more you can always add me or you can read more on the mouse section of the guide I wrote:

One of the best budget mice

Logitech G502, best thing I've ever used and I used a lot of mice.
Stay away from Razer, it's the Apple of mice.
Steelseries Rival is okay, other Steelseries mice are pretty average not worth the price tag.
Stay away from Thermaltake, I used a Black Element for 5 years and it had some serious software problems. Sensor is terrible too.

+1 Got the G502 myself after my G500 started double-clicking.
I managed to get the G500 to act normally again by opening it up and cleaning the contacts, but didn't wait for the issue to come back before I moved on to the new mouse. (I just kept the G500 as a backup mouse in case I need one.)

The Logitech G400 was a really decent mouse, but I always had problems with the cable and I decided to buy another one after 3 or 4 G400's :/ For now I have the Zowie EC1. It's alright, not as good as the G400 though, but it seems to be really durable. As long as you don't buy Roccat stuff, you should be good. The Roccat Kone has a terrible sensor. I heard Razer mice are pretty decent. Can't judge Steelseries' mice since they are too small for my hands.

Something that hasn't been recommended yet: Mionix Naos 7000. It has the most ergonomic shape for my hand and a lower price tag compared to its rivals. This review sums up why I consider it to be one of the best mice on the market.

I just got the ROCCAT Lua for € 20. Simplistic, elegant, solid and with a good "hand feeling". I recommend this mouse. No side buttons ;)

I use a Logitech G700 as my standard mouse (for business and gaming). I've been pretty happy with it.

I find that mouse ergonomics are a very personal thing, and if at all possible, you should see if any local stores have display models that you can hold to see what feels best for your hand size/shape.
With that said, I loved the shape of the Logitech MX510, so when it was time to replace that, I went with the G400, and am now using the G402, and I'm very happy with it. :)

I've come to the very helpful discussion side of steam gifts to ask you guys what type of gaming mouse you would recommend. I would love to keep it under 100 dollars and be very reliable. I don't need anything too special. For instance I don't want tons of keys on my mouse cause I don't need them. If you guys could recommend any mice you think are quite good or the one you are using, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. :3
