People can blacklist for whatever reason they want. There's nothing you can do about that.

However, if you win a giveaway then the creator is obligated to furnish the game or face the consequences (unless they have a reason to re-roll).

Calling out? User asked why he would get black listed, I'm pointing out why. If thats calling out then suspend me.

My mistake then.

Still not removing it.

your choice ;) Thing is you could just mention SGT like Blazezius did above you and it would be ok. You don't call out on any rulebreaking. And it is enough for any user who is aware of rules and SGT, and any user not aware of them is unlikely to use the link you posted and do anything with it anyway - so you risk suspension basically about nothing ;)

i wouldn't say he is completely wrong.
Even though he asked why, the thread was about getting whitelisted here, we can either respond to his question or nothing at all

you can respond to his question without breaking the rules, like Blazezius did :>

true, i've hidden certain actions behind a similar logic and so far faced no suspensioni
t's still a grey area though. i mean...a 24h brake from the site isn't that bad anyway

it depends ;) imagine your suspension happening exactly when an even you were part of with tens, hundreds or even thousands (yes, there are events like this - example) ends. When you are suspended you cannot win - so it means sometimes even few dozens of GAs you'd win lost ;)

suspended
- don't quality for wins
- if you won something and you are waiting for the gift, the ga creator can ask for a reroll
- repeated offenses will add more days next time

If by rep you mean trade feedback then that would be a violation of the rules.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Leaving bad rep over giveaways counts as misuse of trade feedback, and can get you banned. Rep is for trading, not giveaways.

Permalink

Or he could avoid breaking more rules by not leaving a negative Rep on trade profile for getting blacklisted after not following site rules in the past. Feedback misuse has a higher penalty.

You can't really do anything. Blacklisting is the prerogative of the blacklister, and it's completely up to them. My advice is to check if you're cool on http://www.sgtools.info/multiple-wins and http://www.sgtools.info/activation to make sure you're good; lots of people blacklist for that.

Problem with sgtools's non-activated check system is that it's flawed. Says I've yet to activate three games and a few DLC. I've got BL a few times because these games "weren't activated" yet too lazy to check your Steam profile to see if you did or did not. They blindly believe sgtool is "the Truth™".

Steamgift (and sgtools) are based on the flawed Steam API. I know a few years ago SG had to disallow giving Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter DLC as no one with the game could enter it. Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter will also show as unactivated as SG's backend can't connect the Steam API and steam store of the game, also winning a game of the year/game collection adds a non-activated games to your SG account, as again SG's backend is too dumb to connect the dots. Yet SG peeps believe sgtools as if it is a religion.

The only way to fix this is to redesign SG, but that will never happen, so people will get blacklisted on faulty tools

You can't do anything. Some people blacklist their winners, so they don't win twice from them. But he's still obliged to send you the game, so just wait.

Putting a winner of a giveaway to the blacklist is like putting stones in the own shoes before running with them.
I always add people I won from to my whitelist to give them the chance to win from me.

there can be many reasons for BL. Some big contributors inform in their public GAs that they temporary put anyone who wins from them on their BL not because they did something wrong or because they have anything against this user but simply to give other users better chance to win as well.

Besides the things mentioned before, you also seem to ignore huge text with warning put into giveaway description, for example something like:

You DO need to own Retribution or The Last Standalone.

^ Completely random example :3

So I guess it wasn't very hard for the GA creator to make that decision.

why did you enter the GA if you don't own WH retribution or last standalone?

now the creator has to reroll...

Not activated Gifts on account zeroxxx

Before calling out / report someone, please manually check the results

As a general rule, check if SteamCommunity and SteamGifts are online.

Also check if user profile is not private (If it's private ask a Support Member to check it for you).

As you'll read on each section, steam API has some bugs that may result in an inaccurate non-activated detection

:D

From SGTools:
"Steam API has problems identifying some owned DLCs, so the following ones are probably activated!"

Steam has a lot of similar issues and they are pretty well known. Hopefully no one will blacklist you for SGTools identifying a DLC as not activated given the caveat above the section. The results for DLC aren't reliable, which is my SGTools hides them by default.

THey do unfortunately, they believe sgtools is flaweless and the warning is only in general, thus if sgtools says it's not activated, it's not activated , thus they bl you :P

Why are you entering GA's of DLC for games you don't have? (And then acting surprised at negative results?)

Ignoring rules, abusing the site.
Basically being the kind of peson that people don't like or want here.
That's what gets you blacklisted. And honestly...this thread likely put you on more blacklists than you were before.

Cleaning up your act is the only way to go.
