Which game would you want remade or have sequel to and why? Maybe it's an old pearl.
Honestly Id love a sequel to the Black and White series and Warcraft series.

Arcanum :-) I loved the setting, but the game was really unbalanced. Would be nice to see better mechanics introduced into the world.

Oh gods, yes. Port it to an engine that is not a complete ass. If it would get an engine in the style of Pillars of Eternity (just without the insane performance hits), even as a remake it could just crush the cRPG scene again.

at some point i suppose square enix will remake deus ex 1 and adapt it to the prequels.
would be awesome if they released dx2 too :3

They would have to butcher half of its mechanics to make it playable on a console. A controller simply doesn't have enough buttons for DX1.

they can pack all the toggle/ui buttons in options, that's 50% of the keys it needed.

Uhm, DX1 has been released for PS2 and then later ported to PS3 and it supposedly behaves rather nicely, but whatever.

Remake the Resident Evil 2-C:V games in the same manner as they remade RE1.
RE2 is in the works, hopefully the others will follow.

System Shock 1 is being remade, so that is off the list now.

Some of the old SCUMM engine games could get a remake in the style of the two Monkey Islands (or at worst, in the style of the DotT remake).

I'd say remake the original XCOM, but so far we have a typical console game under that banner and a nice attempt from an indie studio, but even that is lacking compared to the original. (Although I have to admit, it is funny that the '94 original is still more complex in its mechanics and gameplay than both remake attempts made in the 2010s…)

Before I want a remake of Nemesis and Code:Veronica I will wait how the RE2 Remake will turn out. I, for one, belong to the people who actually liked the fixed camera angles and the dated gameplay for strange reasons. And if I remember correctly I read something about over the shoulder/third person perspective ......

But it would be nice to have the complete main series in one place and I still have this raving gap from 2-C:V. Have 2 at least on the PS2.

This is why I said in the veins of the ReMake. It kept everything in the old game, just polished it (A LOT) and tried to expand on it (with varying levels of success). If they do the same with RE2, I'll be happy. :)
(Although I will be happy probably if it uses a similar system as Revelations, without the co-op aspects. A fixed-camera RE would be astonishing, but by now I'd be happy if they make an actual survival horror game again for this franchise.)

Yea, I assumed it as you phrased it that way. I just wanted to say that we have to wait what they are doing with the RE2 Remake. If it will be the same as RE 0/1 I will be happy too. Which reminds me I should finally start playing them ....

Hm Revelations was fun (if you ignore the too grindy Raid mode) although I can only talk for the first one since I the second revelations is one of the few Resident Evil games I'm missing on Steam.

I'm in the middle of an RE marathon, with slowly wrapping up RE6, moving to RE:Rev 1-2 after that. We'll see how they fare…
(I'm a little worried about Raid mode, it looks incredibly grindy… and the Rev2 version ever more so.)

If you are going for achievement completion have fun with the multiplayer ones -_- I somehow managed to pull through RE6 but Siege Mode is ..... painful .... Technically, I still have to complete the multiplayer achievements from RE5 but I don't know if I have the motivation for that.
As for Revelations 1: They can at least be done alone although it is probably faster if someone helps you. I did them alone and took more than 60 hours I think. Not to say it is doable a lot faster.

Going for SP100% only. I don't care about multiplayer, ever, so in some games I'm left around or under 50% completion. :)

Ah good then. That is one healthy attitude. Most of the time I tend to make a bow around games with too many or stupid multiplayer achievements but I wanted to have RE5 and 6 -_-
I think I still have Revelations and RE6 installed for the moment, so if you need some quick and easy help (for example giving you a head start to Raid mode or just assistance on higher difficulties) I can help you.

Nah, thanks. RE6 Pro mode went decent so far (finished Leon and Chris both yesterday), and the only parts with Jake and Ada where I die a lot are the stupid little minigames with their cheap instant deaths.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And they are better done alone since it halfs them effectively. And if you have beaten the Chris campaign endboss you have done the worst part already. Had played with Piers on Pro Mode and that stupid electro attack does no damage so I had to survive until the A.I. finally did enough damage >.<
Then good luck with the rest and have fun with Relevations.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, did it with Piers as well. Took 35 minutes or so. I didn't die, it was easy to dodge attacks, but it sure took forever…
(I don't understand why people disliked the AI in RE5, at least it did something… hell, with an infinite-ammo magnum, it practically went aimbot on Pro as well. Here in RE6, the AI does next to nothing, except on a few rare parts like the long elevator ride with Jake and Sherry in Chris campaign chapter 5.)

Well, I needed longer than that ..... it was late and I couldn't figure out that I need to electrocute that stupid cocoon. And that tentacle attack has a reach for the whole room ....
I think the main reason people do notice less the uselessnes is that the AI is immortal in RE6 (which is probably a wise decision) so you have less to worry. But yea, they aren't really shooting that much.

HD remake: Thief The Dark Project & Thief 2: Metal Age (but without any gameplay changes, just a new engine, more polygons and hd textures, nice lighting and so on)

Sequel: Wouldn't mind a well done Bloodlines sequel... or KOTOR3 (yes I know about the OLD REPUBLIC being "kotor 3-12" but I want a real singleplayer game, not a mmo)

I know, I know, my radar picks up all the chatter on NOLF, and I know it's stuck in licencing hell, but if both parties don't care about it or say the other owns it, why can't someone just release the game and see who objects? Or better yet, why can't monolith make a sequel? They are still around, and still making good games, why don't they take the initiative and bring out something that's even a spiritual sequel, if nothing else. Everyone cries about HL3, but NOLF was always the better game for me, and it's been 15 years nearly now. It was so ahead of its time and even today with the old graphics they are still a blast to play.

Oh I guess Monolith from then has not much in common with the Monolith of today and Night Dive Studios, who now seems to own the trademark aren't actually developing new games :/
But maybe Blackpowder Games with the NOLF lead designer might make something new :D I mean Betrayer was actually a pretty nice open-world stealth game. The game-mechanics still work today - maybe they'll do something "nolfish" in the future :>

For the re-release of NOLF1+2 we can probably just hope for a miracle, that sorts things out. To me it looks like the normal 'legal bantering': "hey jeah, we don't really care what the others do, but we MIGHT care about it when it brings $$$". I assume the profit margin for a publisher is just too small too risk any dispute in court.

I think monolith still has the right touch for crazy characters and weapons. Gotham City imposters shows they still have the sense of humour. But if the lead Dev is at blackpowder, then maybe it's time they set their sights higher and made a 'funny 60's spy shooter with a kickass girl spy that is totally not the same game as no one lives forever". I'd buy that for sure!

And yeah with the legal stuff, I've always said, the best way they could find out who owns the rights is to release the game and see who sues them... haha.

Ha jeah I just looked at the franchises of WB and thought about what could actually fit.

Maybe a 3rd person stealth/over-the-shoulder-aiming shooter with Harley Quinn as main protagonists. Maybe something has happened to the joker and she is now enlisted by some government agency, that provides informations about his whereabout, as long as she agrees to spy on some of the other criminal organizations in the batman-unverse.
