I personally prefer using my Steam Controller, (I like to take the time to config each game with certain mapped keys, takes a long time to get use to if you preferred another controller)

For the Ps3 Controller You will need a Bluetooth dongle/usb adapter (or enable it if its a feature of your motherboard/laptop)
Here is a wikia with basic tips of getting it started, and it has links if you need to troubleshoot: http://emulation-general.wikia.com/wiki/SCP_Driver_Package

The sega play controller is going to need some sort of xinput emulation to get it to work outside of emulation. It is more of a headache than it is worth, due to lack of buttons / layout, might be easier to just config a different controller if you have a spare.

Also a quick list of your coop games can be found on: https://steamdb.info/calculator/76561198261685733/?cc=us&category=9

Metal Slug (I like them all myself)
Killing Floor
Warhammer 40k Retribution (Last Stand is a ton of fun)
Dungeon Defenders II
Bloodsports.TV
Shock Troopers
Alien Breed
Alien Swarm http://store.steampowered.com/app/630/Alien_Swarm/ http://store.steampowered.com/app/563560/Alien_Swarm_Reactive_Drop/

Couch/Local Coop List:
Beat Hazard
Business Tour - Online Multiplayer Board Game
Metal Slug
Metal Slug X
<> Metal Slug 3
<> Nation Red
Monaco
<> Rocket League
SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics (Depends on DLC/Games Owned or installed)
Space Farmers
Worms Armageddon
<> Worms Revolution
Yet Another Zombie Defense

<> (my favorites)

DS4. I actually prefer the DS3, but too many compatibility problems and flaky software make it not worth the trouble.

I personally detest the Steam controller, and kinda wish I had my $35 back.

I'm another person who uses a wired xbox 360 controller. Its end is a USB port, and when you plug it in the first time it prompts you to install its driver. It's worked reliably for 2+ years (though I don't use it incredibly often, just for 3D games. It's lasted through marathon sessions of long games like the FF10/10-2 collection and Tales of Symphonia, though).

edit: I don't play a lot of co-op, and I don't have a lot of titles on hand, especially ones your mom might like. For non-gamers I usually recommend low-skill story-based games that won't get someone hung up on the controls, which is a huge barrier of entry that most people who've spent a huge amount of time playing games kind of forget about. 2D also tends to work better than 3D - you don't have to worry about the camera as much, and, esp with a first-person game, you don't have to worry about motion sickness.

Good party games like Jack in the Box and the one with the chefs (I don't think it's Cook Serve Delicious I think it's the other one) might be fun. Don't Talk And Nobody Explodes is another one I like.

Hi, seedy! If I remember right, I got mine on Amazon.

This one looks good, but I'm confused if it actually comes with a usb port. Mine did, but I'm seeing a 'frequently bought together' bundle for this controller and a usb connector. Here is one.

I hope that helps!

360 you need to buy an adaptor, if it's the wireless version. that's what i did 2-3 yrs ago. Now i play with the Xbox One, and i just plug it in with the cable and it works instantly without any problem. if you can, i would go with the One controller, it feels better and it's a good controller

I would definitely recommend the steam..controller,though it's a little complicated, either that or get some xbone controllers.
