While I walk through the lush forest I think to myself how easy it would be if I had a sub-light speed engine. But that has to wait. In the mean time I gaze upon the stars, which is atleast very cost friendly.

Puzzles can be solved without knowing the series itself (Google can help you answer some questions). There are great guides on SG for puzzles, you can check them if you're stuck :)

Hello,
„What is SG on SG?”, you may ask. Well, taking the inspiration from some users (especially from gordonshumway), I decided to create a story-based puzzle. As this will be my first attempt at such thing, it might fall short of the high quality of other users’ puzzles, but hey, we all need to start somewhere, right?
“Yes, yes, that’s all nice, but you still didn’t say what SG on SG was!”, you might point out. Well, as you can tell based on my profile picture, I’m a Stargate fan, so it was almost evident that the setting for this story-based puzzle would be the Stargate universe (not to be mistaken with Stargate Universe). So the first SG means Stargate, the second means Steamgifts.
OK, now that this is settled, let’s talk about the details, shall we?

Hint 1: if you are stuck in the forest, check rurnhani's comment and remember: what you see is a naga arm from the future.
Hint 1.1: If you're stuck after reading Hint 1, remember that sometimes 3 words make 1 word. With that 1 word you can see what is waiting for you in the forest.
Hint 2: If you are stuck right at the beginning, check rurnhani's comment.
Hint 3: Those who found 7/8 should think whether the word in italics rings any bells? what is written is not always what is heard
