i don't know how to form 3 normal words into a 8-char code and i fail to see any deeper meaning, both sound wise or by mana raging it

Only Hint 3 is relevant for the last puzzle (8-digit code), Hint 1 and Hint 1.1 are for those who cannot find their way in the forest to the gate.

So lost right now. Found c.s.g. and the hyperdrive, but cannot for the life of me figure out anything else. No idea what to do with c.s.g. and I spent awhile looking at the image and messing with color/saturation

In my opinion part with c.s.g. is the most NOT obvious in this puzzle, and even when you get it, it's still seems to be really complicated, I used to stop when I begin to understand that I am overthinking it, but not this time.

Well, assuming you're missing the last 2 GAs (in order of appearance), I'd suggest taking a closer look at the picture with the stargate ;)

Hacks referred to hex, so you had to convert a word to hex to get the 8-digit code. The word is gate.

There was a hidden text in the paragraph above the forest picture (cheap star going) which was an anagram (hence the hints 'naga arm' and 'mana rag') of steganographic. If you downloaded the forest picture and uploaded it e.g. here, you got a GA link.

Hello,
„What is SG on SG?”, you may ask. Well, taking the inspiration from some users (especially from gordonshumway), I decided to create a story-based puzzle. As this will be my first attempt at such thing, it might fall short of the high quality of other users’ puzzles, but hey, we all need to start somewhere, right?
“Yes, yes, that’s all nice, but you still didn’t say what SG on SG was!”, you might point out. Well, as you can tell based on my profile picture, I’m a Stargate fan, so it was almost evident that the setting for this story-based puzzle would be the Stargate universe (not to be mistaken with Stargate Universe). So the first SG means Stargate, the second means Steamgifts.
OK, now that this is settled, let’s talk about the details, shall we?

Hint 1: if you are stuck in the forest, check rurnhani's comment and remember: what you see is a naga arm from the future.
Hint 1.1: If you're stuck after reading Hint 1, remember that sometimes 3 words make 1 word. With that 1 word you can see what is waiting for you in the forest.
Hint 2: If you are stuck right at the beginning, check rurnhani's comment.
Hint 3: Those who found 7/8 should think whether the word in italics rings any bells? what is written is not always what is heard
P.S.: English is not my native language, so there might be occasional grammatical errors, but I hope they won’t make the puzzles harder or impossible to solve.
