Hahah, I wonder, from all the people buying and joining giveaways, how many of them actually want to play this game.

Hmmm... I'm not even sure if "play" is the appropriate word for it.

Personally I'm curious if it'll reach a point where people stop entering it.

It's a simulation.

A simulation of driving a vehicle on rails. Literally. It's a rails shooter without the weapons or enemies.

I want to actually play it, because it's a game that you can literally walk away from and go cook dinner, if you're on a longer trip, because it can be run entirely in real-time. Good for this winter coming up when the weather's gross outside and I'm feeling too lethargic to keep up with, say, TF2, but can handle a nice vehicle sim that doesn't require reacting to missiles trying to get up your butt.

Only reason I bought myself a copy was when I saw the DLC Trains vs Zombies. Figured it was the perfect obscure stuff to do in my group's weekly Thursday streams :P

If you haven't played it, I'm going to have to disappoint you by saying that the Trains vs Zombies DLC is not as exciting as you might think. But still, your train can (in one spot) FLY.

I didn't expect it to, was just going to try to make everything that I could go wrong during it to hopefully make it fun for the viewers.

I just wish people timed their giveaways. I'm perma 300 points, without enough games I'd actually play available. BUT THANKS ANYWAY :D

With all this trainz giveaways you can reach the cap in 4-5 hours :)

Well, the majority of people buying this particular game want the contributor amount reflected asap so they can enter other contributor giveaways. Meaning, most of the games for this will be for 1 hour giveaways, the quickest turnaround.

Surprised it's not on the Steam Top Sellers list yet.

But getting the same advantage from bundle keys is OMG CHEATING BAN NOOBS!1

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Abusing indie bundles FOR CHARITY != purchasing games at a once-a-year (if the winter sales repeat this, it'll be twice-a-year) huge sale event.

Plus, you can give the bundles away, but splitting up bundles and essentially reselling the individual keys (well, you're not actually reselling them, but still) is not what the bundles are for.

If you feel that Railworks is being abused for contributor boosting, file a support ticket. I would not be surprised if the points value was adjusted. But it's also only got 13 or so hours left on the deal.

Maybe there should be some market mechanism. Rare and wanted games are worth more, participation and contribution wise, than some game that is flooded to giveaway list and few, if any, wished for it.

I woke up today finding 300 points on my account. It's not that bad, also free stuff it's always welcome.

It's 90% off like the people above have said. They're all trying to raise their contribution points.

A Steam blimp is flying all over the world dropping Train Simulator 2012 keys. Didn't you know?

90% off with $72 gift value. I guess it's a nice way to rack up contributor points. Anyway, it's still a good thing to giveaway games.
