Hola amigos!!
Could you give me some recommendation for an adventure game (preferable point and click)?

But with this in mind:

  • It can be new or old but if it's the last case not the classics (because i played almost all of it)
  • It can be a hidden gem!
  • The genre has to be Horror or Mystery

Thanks!!!! and good luck

The Black Mirror trilogy is very good (the first one has some issues though and can be a pain sometimes), but you probably know it. There is a reboot released some months ago, but it seems it's quite bad. And those musics !
Edit : I'll also add Gray Matter, not a horror P&C, but definitely with a mysterious story. You already have it.

I haven't played the reboot yet, but I have it (not on Steam). (and not so legal, I want to know if my potato computer can handle it before buying it)
But according the reviews and the fabulous 3-4 hours to finish it, I assume it's a piece of garbage, or at least that it doesn't worth 30$/€.

Gray Matter is one of the best P&C I played. Very atmospheric, a wonderful soundtrack, and a mystery/magician theme.

As i said i played BM1 but not 2 and 3, they are all good enough to play them all?
Love that kind of music, very atmospheric.

I enjoyed Black Mirror 2 and 3 way more than the first.

The first is good, but a little bit outdated, and sometimes very confusing (sometimes you have to travel X times between different zones to active an event in a pub or something to progress in the story. And that's not clear AT ALL. Luckily there are walkthroughs or else I wouldn't have finished this game). And I remember some issues with the Steam version (crashes, and something with the voices).

Black Mirror 2 and 3 take place like 20 years after the events of the first game, with another character (but very linked to the character of BM1). The first part of BM2 is kinda confusing : you are not at the castle, so it can be a little bit disappointing or even boring, but you go there after a while, and you will be there until BM3.

I played them in their time and was disappointed in 2 and 3.
But I will play them all again when I get latest BM game.

It's kind of styled like a noir-mystery, with a few chuckles thrown in for good measure. I cannot recommend it enough.

I second that, it's awesome. I had always been put off by the art style and then I won it here on SG and loved it. Very immersive.

Small Town Terrors: Livingston
You have a health meter that determines what actions can be done; for example, you cannot bash a door open when on low health and tired.

Already own the game you're giving away - but thanks anyway!

So, more or less modern adventure games, horror or mystery? Here are some of them:

  • The Cat Lady + Downfall
  • Fran Bow
  • The Lost Crown (although maybe it's already classics)
  • Darkness Within dilogy (same as above)
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
  • Oxenfree
  • Gemini Rue
  • Conarium
  • Stasis
  • The Last Door (both seasons)
  • Layers of Fear
  • Observer
  • maybe Yesterday dilogy (not 100% sure they fit your criteria)
  • Blackwell series
  • The Wolf Among Us (yep, it's a detective)

Kathy Rain is definitely the best one I played in 2017 :)

Many people also recommend most of the games published by Wadjet Eye Games, especially the one called Technobabylon but I haven't played any of those yet...

[EDIT] I didn't notice "Horror or Mystery". Kathy Rain is Mystery, but Technobabylon probably doesn't fit.

I highly recommend Cognition : an Erica Reed Thriller, one of the best and most memorable Point & Click games I've played in the recent years, It could use a little polish here and there, but it's an underrated gem, the game is not strong for its puzzles (I don't care about these) and it's not truly a "Police" game, but it has a solid narrative, a fantastic soundtrack, a strong, non-sexualized and likeable female lead, a well established comic book artist as an art director, not to mention a surprisingly good voice acting for an indie game.

You'll like it even more if you enjoy games with emotional storylines and characters that feel like real people, people that you actually care about.

I can also vouch for the Black Mirror games, very good games, the first one is the best among them, it didn't age well from a technical standpoint, but this shouldn't be detrimental to the enjoyment of the game.

1) The Abbey - great medievil detective story
2) Alter ego - great detective from "black mirrors" creators
3) Nibiru - from the same guys
4) Alternativa - great futuristic detective
5) Broken sword series -it classic)))
6) Black mirror series - one of favourites of all times
7) Dracula origin - amazing game, mind blowing puzzles, great story
8) Experience 113 - very interesting setting for point and click
9) Face noir - great noir detective
10) Fahrenheit - abosulutely must have - amazing gameplay, story and so on and on and on))) from people who bring "Heavy rain", "Beyound two souls" (Playstation exclusives) - awesome games by the way =)
11) Gray matter - nice game, mystic and so on
12) Jurassic Park the game - interesting view to orriginal story, verry intense suspence
13) Memento mori 1, 2 - good mystic games
14) Murdered - soul suspect.
15) Life is strange - AAA game, must have!
16) Remember me - its an action game, but have a great storyline some cool quest ellements. It denetely worth to mentioned. (play on easy, to get maximum of storyline)
17) L.A. Noire - its amazing mid 50's detective, love the atmosphere and music.
19) Runaway series - great trilogy, not so mystical, but one of the best point and click
20) Secret files series - great games with mysteries and interesting puzzles. First game remind me in some way Black Mirror.
21) Still Life - in my top 3 point and click games.
22) Vampyre story - funny mystic game about vampire, it is shame but guys still cant raise money on second half of the game. But even unfinished it worth to try it)
I believe thats it.
Hope to help you to chose))

Day of the Tentacle. Was good when it released, is still good today. Mostly because while it runs on it's own nonsensical logic, that logic is still consistent. Note that the re-mastered re-release is done well, in the way that you can switch between new & old artwork and soundtrack if you wish.
Edit: well, oops. It doesn't really qualify for horror or mystery though.

Technobabylon, Kathy Rain and Resonance are a few of my more recent favorites.
Cognition has a very good story, but the game engine is rather wonky.
Of those 4, Cognition, Technobabylon & Kathy Rain should qualify as mystery. Resonance is more debatable, but still mostly detective thriller.

And I forgot Claire for a nice & creepy hidden gem.

I recommend The Cat Lady.
I have it on GoG, and I really liked the overall game and style of it.
I got stuck somewhere and was too stubborn to look up walkthrough guides so I ended up not picking it back up.
But I feel like starting it over now :)

Sally Face? The Wardrobe? Anna's Quest (not horror, but it's kinda dark)? The Edna & Harvey series? The Runaway series? I'm trying to think non-famous games, but it's really hard, because I'm sure that you probably know most of the games I told you. And they hardly fit the horror or mystery genre that you requested. :/ I know most point and click games though, so if you want more point and click games, I can suggest you some more (not necessarily in the genres that you requested). :P

Since you played and enjoyed the classics, you may like Thimbleweed Park, seems to evoke the classic spirit very well.

A bit more modest, Chronicle of Innsmouth is a Lovecraftian point & click adventure.
