Majoras Mask is going to run you around 20 dollars more if you don't have the expansion pack. That's really the only downside to it. Both are good and I recommend both. Check your local Movie Trading Company for decent deals on N64 games.

They're both (as far as I know) on the Wii shop, bundled in a pack for Gamecube, and other places that I won't mention specifically.

The underground drug market? You can say it. Everyone knows it exists.

I'll always love Ocarina of Time more. ALttP was my first Zelda, but Ocarina will always hold a sweet spot for me. Majora's Mask is really fun also, but with all that mask collecting, I haven't been able to bring myself to replay much of it.

Majora does have a better field theme, though.

First off, play both, OOT then MM. That said if I had to pick:
Personally my favorite is Majora's Mask.
If I had to give a reason as to why I consider it better I'd say its because the story for MM is so dark. OOT was more or less a standard hero saves everything happy ending type deal, sure it got a little dark here n there but Majora's Mask... oh man.

When you're a kid you don't pick up on how horrible and depressing the actual story is.
I played it multiple times when I was a kid, everything was peachy, I didn't notice/understand how the characters felt. Played it again when I was older and I noticed/understood the hopelessness of the people and events it just really hit hard. I got teary-eyed quite a bit.

I won't spoil anything, its something you should experience yourself.

Both of them are definetly great games but I prefer Ocarina of Time.

I did not actually have the opportunity to play either of these games, until the last year.
Frankly, I adore them both.
If anything, I'd say they're rather close in terms of quality [thought that's just my opinion].

Master Quest of OoT, Majoras mask took less time, but is far deeper than most games. Also many more stories, some that will make you cry.
OoT is nice for the adventure, MM is about already being grown and treated as a kid, and how we are treated differently throughout the world. Highly introspective while still fun and challenging.

MM is just deeper. OoT is just origin of hyrule. But i like to think that MM is the origin of who Link really is. He is all of us, in all the masks, all at once; trying to save the world.

To ask which is better, OoT or Majora's Mask, is to ask which is more important to survival: The appendix or the spleen.

  1. Your avatar is perfect for the "I dunno what is real anymore" line.
  2. MM is indeed a deeper game, gameplay and story-wise. Which is probably the issue. Also Tingle...

OoT, overall a more enjoyable experience, and was technologically revolutionary at its release. I bought it on 3DS as soon as I could. MM I have limited memory of, as it's a very deep and dark game, and was out of my depth when I last played it. I'd love to have another crack at it though. On a side note, look up the CreepyPasta MM story with Ben ;) Music plays a huge role in the Zelda franchise, and I found many of tracks used in MM were variations of OoT, which always made me thing back to OoT. So OoT is my vote. Play both and let us know what you thought!

OOT is your more traditional Zelda game, and it was a masterpiece when it was first released. The story still holds up today, but the graphics are looking dated.

A lot of people dont like MM because of the time element, but the game wouldn't be the same without it!
Every character goes about their life during the 3 days, as you progres through the story you get to change the outcome of each and every one of them by the end of the 3rd day. It also has an amazing storyline

I love both of these games, OOT will always be amazing to me because it was the first zelda game which i really got into. But i love MM too because of how amazing the story and interection between everyone is.

I love both, but I think that Majora's Mask was better than Ocarina of Time.

Ocarina of Time was much more enjoyable for me because I don't like any real sort of countdown in my games. However, I think Majora's Mask seems like a better game to be watch someone else play who knows what they are doing.

Majoras Mask, mostly because of the dark elements. and the fact that i was originally supposed to be the first Zelda game to be released on the N64. but Nintendo thought it was too dark to be the first one released.
