There has been so many of the bundle keys passing through, even when the person giving it away announce its from a bundle. no one has been doing much about it unfortunately. just make another networked site called steamkeys or some bullshit. idfk

but the current insanely fast point regeneration allows many users to enter pretty much anything that even remotely interests them
Ahem, we recieve 5% of giveaway entry cost in points and that is for public ones only. So basically, every single of us is able to enter just 5% of all created public giveaways in average. Substract your usual private and group giveaways entries from that amount and... Well, calculate the rest by yourself.

So with 500 giveaways on, that means each user can enter what, 25? I know, bad math, but the point is there. I might be interested in 25 games at the same time, but I'm really not able to be that interested or invest that much time in gaming even in a month. Basically, the average user is maybe entering for 1-2 games they'd play for real, a few games they'd play for a bit (but no time for more) and a couple that will most likely sit in their library, but they're still kinda interested in them.
What if you reduce that to 1%? Suddenly, you only enter in 5 giveaways. Suddenly, there's only 20% of entrants in each giveaways. Suddenly, I wont enter for L.A. Noire which seems like a nice game, but if it weren't for SG, I probably would not have bought it. Suddenly, I only enter for games I'm truly interested in and will invest more than 5 hours into them.

And it still seems like a lot so I wanted to give a suggestion and start a discussion. The amount of "no, ur dumb" comments here is baffling and disappointing. This one is slightly better than that, but only slightly.

It never fails. Every week there is always someone new complaining about something and making a "suggestion" just to "increase" their chances of winning. I mean, you are literally complaining about being able to enter any giveaway you want and still have points left. I don't see how that is a problem.

What does that even mean? What's wrong with initiating a discussion?

Greedy, inconsiderate people can't be made to go away in any realistic manner. Points, you can work with.

Shouldn't need to make them go away. I think no matter what the point generation is, those people will still just enter as many giveaways possible. Nerf the point generation again, they will still do it. Will just go around and around in a big circle.

If bundles are handled better, then that's also a point nerf, no?

...I'm amazed at how pretty much 90% of all responses here were just hostile and unreasonable. My opinion on that matter aside, the OP did its best to make a reasonable suggestion, and the replies are just full of sarcastic jerks.
Jeez, you guys. You guys.

It is the way of the internet nowadays. So many furious keyboard warriors out there! "Popular" to be a "troll". Kind of feels like one giant highschool, only i get to see a random bunch of avatars instead of people's faces and i get to sit on my butt in a comfy chair!

It's not about taking away things they like, the OP's suggestion was a try to balance things out. I personally don't really care if it gets nerfed or not as my points are usually more than sufficient for myself, so I don't exactly have an opinion on this matter, but the OP subjectively thought "hey, I think this is kind of unbalanced" and wanted to discuss it with the community. And then the community just flames him beyond the moon? :/

Every time I look at this thread and others like it I imagine every OP making this noise at the way their threads go.

Thanks for the nice words. I could say I'm surprised by the general response, but I'd be lying. Here I was, thinking I could have a nice discussion on this forum. Boy am I naive.

no thank you, just because you haven't won lately doesn't mean everyone should suddenly be given less points.Even with less points you still have a 50=50 chance. It's all a raffle and raffles are done randomly so you never know when you could be chosen. This won't necessarily higher your chances since it's all generated randomly.

I disagree because, quite frankly, while I can enter pretty much everything that interests me, I have a massive (by my standards) Steam library and a huge ignore list. People with fewer games/more interests would be hurt more by this nerf.

I get that you're supposed to only enter giveaways for games you're actually really interested in, but the current insanely fast point regeneration allows many users to enter pretty much anything that even remotely interests them. I won't lie, I'm part of the problem to.
Anyway, I was thinking, maybe we're getting points to fast. Maybe it would be better if we actually got less points. I know I'd be where more picky with where I enter.
Thoughts?
