I thought that if i send some gifts, I can win the gift more easily in the past. Maybe I was wrong. And, some one do not send anyone gift, but he won several giveaways. Why? Random?
It's chance.
Also "I thought that if i send some gifts, I can win the gift more easily in the past." It's actually true.
Give gifts and get a better chance of winning.
Private groups.
Edit: And you are in one lol. The same one as me.

The site is pretty much Christmas year round. It's nice. I don't have the opportunity to gift to the site, so I try to stay active and involved with the community in any way I can in turn. Not that I wouldn't if I could gift, but hey, all the better, right?
The point is, in reply to OP,
-Gifting does not literally increase your chances, but you can believe in things like karma.
-The point of the site isn't to maximize your game intake, so don't think of it like that. The shell of it is a gambling table, the root is the kindness and warmth of gifting. :)

Gifting is optional. You don't need to gift to win things. If you feel you would rather spend your money buying your own games nobody has any issue with that- your money. But if you like supporting the site's gifting community by all means gift away. I agree with Stalyn saying the site is like Christmas, when you give someone a Christmas present you usually don't do it on the hope that you're investing to get a bigger gift.

Because it is fun.
Also, you meet with lots of people and make new friendships. Good opportunity to find like-minded individuals to play games with.

Everyone that enters a giveaway has an equal chance of winning there is no favouritism nor extra chances for gifting.
If you joined the site expecting that you were guaranteed to win then you joined under false premises.
If you find this to be unfair, then I honestly don't know what you were expecting. What could possibly be more fair then giving everyone an equal chance of winning?
There are no obligations to gift, everyone does it for their own reason. I do so because I think this is a tremendous site and I wanted to give back to the community. I'm not under any illusion that what I win has to match what I give. I can see just by looking at the number of people that enter the giveaways that it's virtually guaranteed that I will not.
If you find it to be a waste of your time, and you don't like the site then you're perfectly free to leave. Frankly, I find it extremely difficult to understand how this site has been unfair to you however.
It's giving you a chance to win games for free, and asking nothing at all of you. If that's too demanding, and you expect a guarantee of getting games for free and the mere chance isn't sufficient I think you'll find this site and the real world operates very differently then you believe.
This site is for anyone who wants a chance to win a free game, or just wants to make people happy and give away some games.
There are some tremendously generous people here spending their money to give games to people for no other reason then they want to be nice.
You're not often going to find that anywhere on any other site.

As for me, it's better to have nothing than to see these annoying "tyvm" and "thx"-style comments from people who are so stupid and lazy that cannot even read some of giveaways' descriptions. 100 entries with zero comments would be more suitable for me than 100 entries and 100 thanks-style comments... specially if i asked nicely not to thank in description, but who cares, anyway? ];

I am a member of this croatian gaming forum for a few years now and just recently i joined their steam group (recently as in last year). Then i joined SG and started to win a lot. So people are started to spy on my and to join every group on steam that im a member. I occasionaly do a giveaways for this croatian forum dudes but recently the group has been invaded with bunch of Russians and beggars who dont even know whats the purpose of the group theyre in, theyre just there to leech for free games. Few days ago i did a NightSky giveaway and the guy who won was some random intruder Farguz, who started apologising to me on chat for "his silly and unfair tactic" but he still accepted the game.
I dont know where im actually going with this, i just wanted to vent out a little. You know, i really wanted for this game to go to someone who i know but people are such selfish pricks sometimes
EDIT
Also, i always think its a common courtesy go make a giveaway/gift something back whenever you win something. It's just the polite thing to do. I've seen one member of SG who's won like 17 games here, has 185 on his steam acc (obviously he buys them frequently) and he still hasn't give anything back to the community. That is just pathetic

You know what's fun? When people don't play the games you've given away.

I get your point but there are many members of this site with steady jobs and obligations not related to Steam and gaming. Yes, i understand that this can be quite frustrating when you give someone a game that you really really like (btw everyone should play NightSky!) and then you check up on that person few weeks after and he still hasn't touched the game. I admit that i have bought/won some games that i havent still got a chance to play them but right now i have so much personal problems and fuckups in my life that gaming isnt my top priority at this moment

You know what's even more fun? When you see your winners go and play Team Fortress 2 (all the freaking time), instead of the game they've won.
I'm yet to see one of my 9 giveaway winners clock over 1,5 hours in a game they've gotten from me. I quite frankly have no idea why am I still using this website. I could just give games (or other stuff) to people I actually know, or at least people from my friendslist, and yet I persist on doing so for strangers, who clearly have no sense of courtesy, whatsoever.

The first game I won here was Freedom Fighters and I haven't touched it. That was over 4 months ago so I have no excuse other than I have too many games that entice me. I won Haunted: Hell's Reach and have played as much of that as I can when I am on Steam. I also won Tomb Raider Anniversary but have only installed it.
I just haven't had much time for gaming, but I consciously made the effort to play Haunted: Hell's Reach as much as I can because I won it and it is only right. I wish I had more time to play the others.

I don't think anyone means to judge how much someone "deserves" to win a game, but it's frustrating when you give away games and they are never played, since you know there would be plenty of other people who would be happy to receive the game and at least give it a fair try for a few hours. I would love it if everyone would simply not enter a giveaway when they're probably never going to play the game anyway and that's what I do myself, but it's not realistic to expect that of everyone since there's no way to enforce it.
I am fully aware that there are plenty of very valid reasons not to play games, but for many people these reasons simply don't apply. For almost all of the games I've gifted that have never been played, the winner had plenty of time to play other games, so it's not like they didn't have the opportunity to give it a try. It makes me feel like that person just wanted a +1 to his Steam games list in stead of actually caring about the game, and my gift is essentially wasted on someone who will never play it anyway.
It doesn't affect me personally since a gift is a gift either way, which is why I haven't grown completely disillusioned with gifting stuff, but I do feel bad for the people who never win anything and who would love those games to bits, while my gifts go to people who don't appreciate them.
I certainly don't mean to accuse you or anyone in particular, but that's how it feels.

Well, that's your fault for giving away a game. No one asked you to do it.

The point was that it wasn't "pay to win" like every free MMO there is. And also, if you're "complaining" that you haven't won anything even though you gifted, well then, why don't you just buy stuff for yourself? You perfectly said so yourself. Why not follow it?

This site is not a trading site. You do not buy a $20 game to get a $20 game. This site is for those who truly can't afford the games (or those who don't want to spend money on them) to win them. If you have the money and you would rather buy the game yourself then do it.
The gifters give games away because they want to, not because they are being rewarded for it.
As for the people entering the giveaways: It's like Vegas but you don't actually have to pay anything to play. When gambling, your odds of winning go up as you play more times (never truly 100% chance though). Your odds do not go up if you bet more money at a time (most of the time at least). The same can be applied here. The more you enter, the more likely you are to win. Gifting here doesn't increase those odds at all.
If you do feel the need to give a game away when you win (I personally feel that way), you don't need to give something of the same value. If you win a $60 game and you can afford to give a $60 game away right then, well then you should have just bought it for yourself and given everyone else a better chance at winning it. If you win a $60 game and can only afford to give away a $10 game, that's fine. From your perspective, you've just paid $10 for a $60 game. From the community's perspective, you just increased the number of giveaways available at the time.
Finally, if you feel that this site is a waste of time then leave. It is the simplest solution that everyone overlooks. Nobody is forcing you to be here, and so you can just leave at any time you want to.

I have given away $872.59 worth of games and have won $85.95 worth of games. Luckily I didn't go into this expecting a profit, or it would indeed all have been a huge waste of time and money.
Sure, I could have saved myself a lot of money, but if you're looking for an equal exchange this is the wrong site. It's SteamGifts, not SteamTrades after all. :P

We gift game to the others, and we receive gifts from the others.
Why we don't buy our favorite games for ourselves directly?
I sent a $19.99 game, and I received a $19.99 game.
Why I don't buy our it for myself directly?
So, maybe I'm wasting my limited time.
The website catch our heart. Most wanna win a game for free. A few people wanna send gifts. The website is suit for them.
Maybe the others should leave here.
I mean we are wasting our limited time.
In the past I thought that if i send some gifts, I can win the gift more easily. Maybe I was wrong. And, some one do not send anyone gift, but he won several giveaways. Why? Random?
Who is the biggest winner on the website?
