OBVIOUSLY I am not actually suggesting that I am gonna kidnap a dog

Obviously you were thinking about it for at least 3.14 seconds.

dog breeders are often sick fucks who kill or abandon the puppys with unwanted traits until they get some monstrosity of nature that is so inbred it cant even breath properly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCv10_WvGxo

Not always. I know some breeders who also adopt street pups and cats and provide shelter for them too, help get them permanently adopted and all of that. Some are just in it for the love for animals and not money. Others... yeah.

Go to an animal shelter, at least I think the dogs there had been properly treated and taken of waiting for rescue and a proper home. Picking up strays on the street may lead to many unforeseen implication. I've never been a pet owner apart from the numerous gold fish that passed on when I was young.

When we were young, my siblings and I pestered our parents for a parts, we were just being a kid. Now that my siblings have their own family, they do not have pets or mention they want one. Their kids are more than they can handle for now. Hahaha Personally, I grew pass that point of wanting a pet after I got into early teens. Too much work, my father used to have a fish tank of fishes he kept losing as some of the fishes likes to suicide but my father wasn't good at rearing them. After long while and tired of washing the fish tank he now stick to growing plants instead.

If you are not ready, don't get a pet now I guess, do not get into an impulse there are strays that are abandoned by their owner in the 1st place due to impulse isn't it. You do not need to go to a breeder. It takes a bigger heart to go to an animal shelter. Clearly rescued pets need more loving as 1 way or other they've been hurt physically or psychologically. The problem will be identifying a proper shelter as we all hear stories of mistreatment of animals in the animal shelters.

You can 1st visit your neighbour time and time again. See if you have gotten over your last pet and gotten over the mistake that led to the eventual death of your pet as you mentioned. If you rekindled your passion or wanting go through a proper shelter and visit the pet you wish to adopt often. I do hope anyone whom adopts a pet treats them properly. I think people whom adopt a pet and treats them like their baby is overdoing it. I've seen alot recent years that the pet owners here are putting their pets in a pet trolley. I think its ridiculous, the pets are most free when you let them move around. They are not a 3 months old Baby. I've also seen alot of dog owners with Husky and Golden retrievals for pets when we are living in a Tropical State with high humidity and temperature. It does them no good and they shed fur and can lead to skin conditions.

All in all, if you want to get one, treat it properly, treat it right, Cheers, Cruse~

Tbh, I do not recommend feeding strays, however, since you are taking care of them perhaps one day you can take them home and properly care for them when you conditions allow so. In my opinion, that's the best thing you can do. :)

Replying to the below comment: Pets like humans requires exercise, they too have heart disease related to obesity. Its more natural for them to walk then to sit around being pushed. I do not think those pets are that old too but I never had one so I would not have known either. If they are panting too hard, well due to our weather here, then they are not suited for our weather. Why torture them?

In my opinion, although a leash may be too restrictive or not caring enough for your pet. I am a pretty rational person. No matter how well you trained your pet, we can't communicate both ways. There's always a % that the pet might run loose to on coming traffic, towards a stranger or even attack a passerby. If I were to have a pet, a leash is important for me as its a social responsibility too as a pet owner. Over here, you'll be fined if you do not pick up your dog poo or allow your pet to pee anywhere, if you are caught. Its all about being considerate towards others and your surroundings.

Well, at least for the conditions here. Feeding strays leads to breeding, though the animals here are generally sterilize as told by the government. If wrong food is being fed to the animals it could cause sickness to them(not stating you here obviously). There are of course individuals that feeds them on a spurt than regularly.

Its the same as you are told not to feed animals in the zoo. They loose their instinct. They are allowed to walk the streets as part of the eco system, there needs to be such a cycle but over here since we are a small state, its controlled and monitored. The strays if not feed might go into the residents apartments/houses and of course that would cause trouble. Not everyone is an animal lover and it has happen before. I used to have stray cats walking along my apartment corridor.

Well most recently I was coming home with my mother and a pigeon due to stray feeding was sitting on the rails of my corridor. I shooed it away and it panicked and rammed into my window trying to get into my apartment. Thankfully, the impact was low and everything was closed. As it was frantically flapping its wings I tried to shoo it away again but I am afraid it might panic and attack instead as I was with my mother. The pigeons aren't afraid of humans anymore, I can even walk side by side with them because elderly residents threw bread crumbs at them.

I do have cat feeders at my apartment block too. If and I mean IF anyone is as caring to buy canned cat food for the cats, Why don't you bring them home to properly care for them? They get dirty, sleep and hide underneath drains, might bring disease(skin) if they are hurt. Why not be the real kind soul and adopt them? If conditions do not allow you to bring back to the place you are living, then bring them to a shelter and care for them there. Well, you mentioned you lived in a 3rd World, you have your fair share of issues and standards. I live on a tiny island with 1st World conditions but 3rd World standards.

As we strive for a better future for the nation and learn to be civil and co-exist with our surroundings. We must also understand what "hidden" danger like diseases strays can bring as I mentioned if they walk into an apartment especially one that has a baby or small kid. You can say the dogs you've met are smart. Nonetheless, Accidents do not happen because you are smart or stupid but at least 1 party is careless.

Since you mentioned living conditions, therefore you must also see from my point of view that better living conditions may result in indifference of treatment or how we control animal on streets.
Warm Regards, Cruse~

Hey Razielite,
I know you feel kinda guilty, but as a matter of fact you are not responsible for Milo's demise.
The question of guilt isn't even relevant cuz nothing can bring you Milo back. :/ I'm sure you did the best you can.
I feel you are craving for a new companion and someday you'll be ready to meet him. (maybe you met him already?) ;)

Grief wants to find logic and explanation where there is none. Assigning guilt, be it unto others or unto oneself, is a part of that. Feeling guilty for what happened is not exactly unnatural, but you'll eventually have to come to terms with the fact that you're not.

But for the time being, you're still in grief. The wound is still open and bleeding. Well, there's nothing anyone can do about that; just let it bleed. Time will take care of it. Maybe wait a little, don't get another animal for now. Once you're feeling better (and trust me, you will), you'll be able to take good care of another one. If your grief is leading you to see yourself responsible for Milo's death, I think you might not be too ready to take on raising another dog. You might project that grief on your new pet, and that's not healthy for either of you.

With that said, cute dog (or cat) pics always make my day, so I'm on board with that idea. ;)
