Hello guys i have some money for a while now which i earned by my work 450 euros to be exactly.I want to buy a new gpu.Recently i saw the gtx 970 and i think is pretty much powerfull but i am feared of the bottleneck.I have a i5 3570k no OCed.I meet the requirements such as power supply etc etc so dont trouble you these ones.Well what do you think is my pc ready for a gtx 970 or i want a cpu upgrade? Otherwise i will go for a r9 290x which i am pretty sure i am ok.

that CPU is still considered very powerful, so you are very good with it for some years. So it won't bottleneck a 970 for sure, it won't bottleneck even more expensive GPUs.

I have a (almost) 6 year old PC with a Pentium Dual Core 2.8GHz and my laptop is 3 years old with a Dual Core Pentium 2.2GHz (notice the reversed pentium and dual core).

The PC is AT LEAST twice as fast as the laptop, and it's double the age. It's only snappier, since the PC doesn't have dedicated GPU so I can compare gaming. What I can say is TF2 and WoW get half the FPS when maxed out (as compared to the HD graphics on the laptop), racing games have half hour loading screens and GTA IV doesn't even start.

TL;DR: The age shouldn't be a problem, at least not until your CPU reaches 80 degrees Celsius on a MOBA on lowest settings.

Both are ok, you shouldn't have a bottleneckwith with games today and the coming of DX12. There are rumors AMD is releasing new GPUs soon, if you can wait, you might get a bit better deal.

Rumors are they'll have official info in june, though first rumors were that they'll release it in february or march, but if you are not in a hurry you will find out anyways, it doesn't change your plans :D

I had a GTX 970, gave it back when the 3,5 GB RAM fiasco was publicised. Too bad nvidia botched this card up hard. If you can wait a bit longer (like me) until AMD reveals Fiji.

There are several rumors that AMD will be releasing their 300 series soon. Even if you don't want a 300 series card, the price of AMD and Nvidia cards will drop so you should be able to get a better deal.

You're good to buy either of those with that CPU, personally I'd recommend the 290X just because i know people with each GPU and i hear of much more issues with the 970 (My friend who's an Nvidia fanatic got rid of his 970 shortly after getting it). But AMD's new GPU with their new memory system is coming out soon. The R9 300 series. I'd definitely hold off for those gems if I were you, even my Nvidia fanatic friend is looking forward to that series.
