Disable HTML MOTDs (Multiplayer -> Advanced -> check "Disable HTML MOTD's). I wouldn't trust the built-in browser to not get wtfpwned by malware, and it's REALLY LAME having an animated flash ad screaming out that you need to buy some BS product while you're trying to play.
If, like some servers, it puts a message overlay on your screen telling you to turn HTML MOTDs back on, then find another server.

No worries.
Turning HTML off does break the !BP (backpack) command to view other people's inventory. If you don't use it, it makes no difference. If you do use it, you can turn HTML back on, use the backpack viewer, then turn it off again. :)
edit: I know HTML ads make money for the people who run the server, but if they can't compromise and host ads that aren't f'ing obnoxious, then I don't want to support them.

Thank ya'll for you're comments. So it's just an add after all. I guess I should have suspected that, but what confused me is, that after it's viewed about 10 times it asks you to enter a captcha code. What kind of ad asks you to enter a captcha code?!

So I spent the day playing TF2 and after dying quite often an animation was brought to the screen asking me to click on a golden pot. When I did there came a ticket out of it, saying I was qualified to enter a giveaway for a gaming mouse.
What's up with that? I can't find anything about it by using google.
Is clicking on that pot enough to enter this mysterious giveaway? I don't see the collected tickets anywhere.
