I've been pretty excited about the upcoming (not really true to lore) Shadow of Mordor release and have been considering Pre ordering it. The question is, is it really worth it. I would love some feed back to help me make up my mind! Thank you :)

There's some decent points there though the site isn't the most reputable

Depends. There's a very good chance Mordor will be locked after the preorder period ends, like Dead Rising 3 and Fable Anniversary were. If that does happen, the preorder price will be cheaper than any sale price for probably 6 months. So, it really becomes a personal judgement call.

Never preorder, less so in this case. The devs (or publishers, whatever) have not given review codes for the PC version to reviewers, so we have no idea how well or how bad was it ported to PC.

My rule for preordering is only preorder games you can't wait to have. And a big bonus if you can get it cheaper, or a free game or something like that. Preordering from Steam is much more advantageous because you can trade for it much cheaper than usual, just be careful about region locking.

Personally, I think it looks really cool.

Well I Pre-ordered it, but I got it for 22$. Never Pre-order a game full price, because you can be burned. Anyways, the game looks amazing, so who knows, it may be (and most likely will be) GOTY.

Well some games deserve to be pre-ordered full price like Uncharted 4, phantom Pain, and Witcher 3. Support amazing studios!

Never. Ending up with a broken product is not worth it for the preorder bonuses.

Looks good, isn't it partially developed by the dudes who made Red Dead Redemption? I mean I hate LOTR and to me this looks pretty great....Can always wait though, no harm in that.

In my opinion, NO! Pre-ordering to get a skin or/and a power-up is stupid. The more we pre-order games the more developers/publishers are ok with releasing unfinished products full of bugs, and then cutting something from the game to be later released as DLC. But that's just my opinion.

I would preorder if

  1. I REALLY want to play the game on release date (pre-loading)
  2. It's cheaper then it will be at release
  3. It has very nice pre-order bonuses
For Mordor, 2 and 3 fail.

I'm a LOTR geek but I'd wait for some reviews first. I preorder a lot but Mordor, I dont know, I have a bad feeling about it.

Maybe it's better that you avoided it then as some people are going "lorerape" about it

Ernie the Eager: "I pre-ordered Oblivion and got to play it the day it came out!"
vs.
Inigo the Impoverished: "I ended up waiting for a while and got the GOTY edition--with updated content and bugfixes--for five dollars."

I find there are many benefits to NOT pre-ordering, and I have plenty of other games to enjoy while I wait for the right time to purchase. Ultimately, each person has to consider the benefits versus the drawbacks and decide whether or not it's worthwhile.

Even tho i love everything that's related to J.R.R Tolkien, I'd wait for some reviews first!

Sure, why not. Even if it is just an average game, you're still going to enjoy it anyway.

There are already gameplay videos out in the vast wilderness of cyberspace. Watch them and make an informed decision. Then evaluate if the preorder bonuses are of any worth to you.

No. Don't be part of this stupid pre-ordering hype. In this days marketing is most important in game making process and this is just wrong. Buy games because they are good, not because they telling us it will be good and giving us some scraps with pre-order.

The preorder bonuses don't look too hot, but it's your call if you have fifty bucks to drop on a game that could flop pretty hard. Who knows, maybe I'm trying to do a secret giveaway and no one has gotten the hints yet. Should try to force a URL or something, guys.

If it was Batman Arkham Knight, I'd say GO AHEAD! This game has promise but...lets see.

You shouldn't pre-order it. There are no review copies for the PC version, only review copies are for consoles. That could indicate a shitty PC version.
