I know Clannad is a big deal in the anime circles but I've never understood why perhaps because I haven't played the game, watched the anime, or read the manga or because the art is just damn ugly but I do think it's pretty cool that it's now on Steam for those peeps that do want it.
I'm not going to be buying it - wouldn't have even with a lower price - but it's cool that the option is there. Maybe this would open up more doors for other well-known VN's to come to Steam. Bring forth that School Days HD, eh?

That story is really pretty enticing and it's a huge tear bucket... Well emotional rollercoaster is a better term.. Still like Eden* better though...

If you've watched Clannad but haven't seen After Story then maybe that's the reason. Clannad is more or less a backstory for the characters and in After Story the feels train leaves the station and there are no brakes on it.

Nah, I haven't watched/read/played anything Clannad or relating to it, I've just kept running into everyone praising it. I admit I have no clue what the story is like, I've just been on my shallow end of the pool like: "but the art so ugly..." :D

I really don't get how people can play VNs which are so poorly drawn. I might be superficial, maybe this Clannad thing is the best VN ever but I would NEVER, ever manage to concentrate on the story when the eyes are just like...

Super alpha is being exceedingly genorous. Higher resolution art and an English dub. The art seems to be getting pretty heavily criticised so I can't really see resolution as a selling point and I'm sure that the majority of the intended market would prefer the original audio anyway.
My point being pretty much anyone interested either already has it or already did torrent it in the past. It's not some golden obscurity that gog rescued from a horrible fate.

They could have choosen some great looking screenshots, but instead they show how awfull it really looks...
Just check the face on the second screenshot and compare the shape to the one in the 3rd screenshot. I know that are different characters but in booth pics the shape of the face is kinda the same even if the face is shown from the front in screen 3 and from the side in screen2. Also the mouth is way to high on screen 2. The face in screen 3 looks terrible too.
Also I really don't like the artstyle. The eyes looks just soulless and the noses and mouths are just drawn too simple.
I can't believe they want 39€ for that.

So yeah CLANNAD is now on steam, in enlglish and its supposed to be on HD("All visuals have been upgraded to 1280x960 for the Steam release of CLANNAD. " thanks CarlEric), havent played it, nor watched the anime, tho i know its a big deal BUT its way too expensive for me 50 fricking bucks... i dont know why visual novels (like actual japanese VN) tend to be so expensive anyway here you have
