You are definitely a wishlist collector with 1k+ games in your wishlist ^^
It is possible to get the web page and parse it for data, and probably that is what I'm gonna do. Most likely I will just remove wishlisted games from predictions. It might make the situation better in some cases.

I tried it, but it only gave me one interesting game (that I looked at multiple times when figuring out what to buy) and two games that might be good, but not great.
It didn't give me any strategy games, while that is the type of game that I play most...

Thanks for feedback.
Actually, I had a bug for profiles like yours and it ruined your recommendations ^^
I just fixed it, and now everything works much better for relatively big profiles.
I would be extremely grateful if you can check out recommendations one more time and voice your opinion.
Thanks you again

Out of several rerolls I got two games from my wishlist recommended. A lot of games were really obvious choices (as in everybody knows them and they are universally liked) and unfortunately a lot of games I removed from my account, since I didn't like them at all also popped up.
I like the idea, but as of now I can't say that it really offered me anything in terms of videogames recommendations. Keep up the good work though. I do have and use FairSteam.

especially excellent tool for those that do not card farm or idle games for long periods, and even then my first roll was still a great roll.. however i must say my second and third rolls were not so good due to horrible card farming techniques and very long idletimes in some not so great games in my past.. still overall great tool for most average users that dont cardfarm or wishlist everything =)

First attempt... Not so great.
Prison Architect ++++ (already wishlisted)
Skyrim +++ (already wishlisted)
Witcher 2 +++ (already wishlisted)
FTL +++ (already wishlisted)
Starbound ++ (already wishlisted)
Saints Row IV + (not interested enough to wishlist)
Fallout 4 -
Don't Starve Together --
Dark Souls ---
Torchlight 2 ---
Orcs Must Die 2 ---
The Binding of Isaac Rebirth ----
Combine all the pluses and minuses and they cancel each other out. Except all the pluses are from games I couldn't possibly not know about. Same with the minuses, really. Whereas your description promises: "discover small and obscure gems that might have flown under your radar".
Seems like the site desperately needs:

Rerolled a few times. The first 5-6 attempts, I got very similar mixed bags of good and bad recommendations, with no "small and obscure" games among them. Not a single thing I hadn't seen before. After that I got 2 rolls with pretty bad recommendations, but at least there were some games I'd never seen before. None of them interested me. Then back to mixed bags of popular games for 5 more rerolls, before I stopped.
And I kept getting the same games over and over again. Dungeons of Dredmor was in like half the lists. Starbound and Skyrim weren't far behind, and I got a few repeats of Orcs Must Die 2 and Torchlight 2 as well.
Gonna try the main site at some point too.

Vercinger, I'm grateful to you for such a detailed feedback. I made a few changes to the algorithm based on it.
If you want to give it a second chance, just reinstate your user profile (logout - login again). Thank you again ^^

Cool.
Okay, so the wishlist filter works, but the focusing on obscure games... not really. First attempt:
Fable TLC
Deus Ex Human Revolution
Worms Ultimate Mayhem
Hearts of Iron IV
Isaac Rebirth
Transistor
Borderlands Pre-Sequel
Darkest Dungeon
MoH Airborne
Mass Effect 2
Saints Row IV
Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
All of these have over 1000 reviews on Steam, many have over 10000. And since all the good matches from the previous attempts, before the update, were already wishlisted, now that the wishlist is taken into account all the matches are bad.
I guess it's hard to find stuff for me given the 1000+ wishlisted games, but the thing is I currently find at least 1 new thing to wishlist per week anyway, and most of the time it's something that's been on Steam for months or years, not a new release. So I'm hoping this tool will be able to actually find some of those obscure gems I've missed.
Gonna reroll a few more times and post again.

Second attempt:
Dungeon of the Endless
Dragon Age Origins
Assassins Creed Brotherhood
Risk of Rain
Spelunky
Dust an Elysian Tail
Wargame Airland Battle
Superhot
Helldivers
Duke Nukem Forever
Shadowrun Returns
Spore Galactic Adventures
This time it's even more popular stuff, and still no good matches.
Third attempt:
Sonic Generations
Botanicula
Legend of Grimrock
Call of Juarez Bound Blood
Orcs Must Die
Brothers
Transformers Fall of Cybertron
Mass Effect
South Park Stick of Truth
Metro Last Light
Sonic Adventure 2
The Orb Chambers
Okay, so we got our first obscure game - The Orb Chambers. Unfortunately it's also a terrible match, as I hate platformers and skill games and I don't much like puzzle or physics games. The problem here seems to be the game's tags, which don't match the store page description at all.
Other than that, all popular stuff and still no good matches.
Fourth attempt:
Redcon
Ironcast
Fin & Jake's Epic Quest
Fieldrunners
Starwhal
Oddworld Munch's Odyssey
Fieldrunners 2
AAaaaAAAaaaaaAaAaaaAAAaaAaa
Lifeless Planet
Beware Planet Earth
12 Labours of Hercules IV
Rush
Now that's interesting. Multiple games with less than 1000 reviews, and 3 I haven't heard of - Redcon, Ironcast and Starwhal. Redcon is also the first good match. The other 2, and the rest of the list, are pretty bad matches.
It seems to me the algorithm could be improved by making it focus on more obscure tags first. For example, Strategy gets slapped on everything from Grand Strategy like Victoria 2 to 4X like Stellaris to RTS like Wargame to Tactics games like Jagged Alliance to Tower Defence like Fieldrunners to Strategy Lite like 12 Labours of Hercules to even Match 3 games like Ironcast.
So for example Fieldrunners has the tags Tower Defence, Strategy, Indie, Casual and Singleplayer. Everything here except Tower Defence is way too general to be used for matches, and I'm fairly certain there's nothing in my above average played games that suggests I like Tower Defence. Yet I still get this matched, among other similar games.
Unfortunately, sparsely used tags are hard to come by, so after depleting those, the algorithm could start matching multiple common tags combined. And only after that go for individual common tags.
To demonstrate what I mean by obscure/sparsely used tags, let's look at some of my most played games:
Victoria 2 - Here we have Grand Strategy, Politics, Economy and Management as tags I'd like to see more of. Less useful, but still more useful than generic Strategy or Singleplayer or Simulation is: Historical, Real-Time with Pause, World War I, Military, War, Moddable, Alternate History, Great Soundtrack.
Team Fortress 2 - Nothing here that could really be used on its own, but if you combine some of the common tags - FPS or Action or Shooter, with tags that aren't commonly used with them - like Cartoony or Comedy, you can get relevant matches.
The next two, Europa Universalis 3 and Crusader Kings 2, are pretty much the same as Victoria, but CK2 gives us the Diplomacy tag.
Civilization IV BTS - Here we get 4X as a new standalone tag, plus Turn-Based Strategy to be combined with others or used on its own when more specific tags are depleted.
Day of Defeat Source - Much like TF2, here we could combine FPS and the like with Realistic or Classic.
Empire Total War - Here we get Naval, Turn-Based Tactics and Real Time Tactics as useful tags, plus the less useful Atmospheric, best used in combination with common genre tags.
Port Royale 2 - Pirates and Trading are two new useful tags.
AdVenture Capitalist - Clicker and Capitalism are good, Funny and Memes probably best used in combination with genre tags.
The next few are mostly more of the same, so I'll jump ahead to an important one:
Tropico 4 - Here we get City Builder, Building, Resource Management, Political, Cold War, God Game. All could be used on their own and all are likely to lead to good matches.
I hope some this can be helpful in improving your project.

Rerolled a few more times.
First 2 attempts - Nothing obscure, all the games had between several hundred and several thousand reviews, nothing I hadn't seen, no good matches.

Orcs Must Die
Dishonored
Rage

Thanks you for such a detailed response.
I will make some corrections to the algorithm to skew predictions toward what user likes more (obscurity vs popularity).
The way my algorithm implemented doesn't take into account game tags at all (at least currently). The closest algorithm to mine is called User-based collaborative filtering. Basically it finds all users with similar gaming preferences to the subject and looks into the games that this 'circle' of similar users likes as well. If 'circle' likes some game more than general population, than probably it might be interesting to the subject.

I see. Not sure why I got the impression you were using tags.
I read in your other comments that the algorithm looks at games with above average playtime. If it doesn't already, it should take into account the scale of playtime. So for example, if a game's average playtime is 4 hours, and someone played it for 5 hours, that's much less significant than if a game has an average playtime of 160 hours and someone played it for 110.
I guess the biggest challenge here is how to actually get obscure games by using your method. By definition, an obscure game has a small sample of players, so it's going to be unevenly represented in any 'circle' that's being compared to the general population. I guess that's why I didn't get a single game with less than 100 reviews in all the matches. I'll post again if I come up with any ideas on how to solve that.

Great idea thanks a lot for putting your time into this. I honestly don't know why I got recommendations like Hunie Cam Studio as well as other anime games though. I even filter them out when I search for games. As one of my mentors, Abathur from Starcraft, would say "Must Improve" :) Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to using this tool in the future. :)
