I was thinking an 'easyish' solution for this on your side, would be to only analyze games with at least 1 achievement

Interesting tool, but it mostly showed me games that are on my wishlist already, but thanks anyway :)

yeah.. when you know all the games on store, it's kind of hard to make a surprising prediction, but at least you can reroll until you see something new and worthy :)

I guess my preferences must be too complex for your code. ;)
I barely got recommendations for my fav genres (RPGs and strategy) and none was good. But plenty for puzzle platformers or shoot'em up. It's pretty much the opposite of what I'd be interested in.

Edit: Oh, on the 4th re-roll it finally suggested me plenty of RPGs and strategy games. But all good ones were already whitelisted. :)

Thanks for the detailed feedback!

That is probably to the fact that you have a lot of 'liked' games in different genres :) You can check out underlain likes if you login into the main site: http://whitechest.com/ . You can also edit your profile here and drop games you don't like.

The fact that only 4th re-roll gave you desired outcome it up to one of the defining features of the prediction algorithm: it uses only 5 random 'liked' games from your profile to give you prediction. It's one of the ways i've found to make 'reroll' possible and to not overfit predictions to user profiles :)

Hm, how are those "likes" generated? It'd certainly be news that I enjoy games as Woodle Tree Adventures or Platypus II. ;D
There are several games on that list that I never even played. Well besides ASF idling them for cards.

WhiteChest transforms playtime hours into likes. Simplified , if you have playtime more than an average, than you should like this game. It's not a perfect solution, but it works in like 70% of cases. It's hard to come up with an automated system that works better than this, that's why I made manual correction on main site ^^

Interesting suggestions. I will definitely use this once my steam profile is a bit more accurately reflective of me. It's already suggesting some good stuff.

You can tweak you profile from the main site: http://whitechest.com/ - it's more 'complicated' and has much more features ;)

Great idea, but it would be better if you could input somehow what sort of games you are looking for. So far I don't understand what the recommendations are based on, out of the 12 recommendations it gave me one that was on my wishlist and rest I have long ago marked as not interested already, reroll had pretty much the same results.

Side note: The constant repetition of "Morty" in the FAQ gets old really quickly. I get that it's supposed to be a reference to something, but c'mon, that has to be excessive even to people who get the joke.

Thanks for input!
There is no way for this service to know what games you've marked as 'not interested' in the discovery queue on Steam, that's why it might give you the same recommendations.
I know that this service is not best fit for those who used discovery queue a lot (like me), but even after more than 1k+ 'discovered' games on steam WhiteChest gives me something new from time to time :)

I'm 100% agree with you about FAQ. I feel that it's too edgy and might be a little bit rude. I'll rework it soon.

PS: Rick and Morty is one of the shows I like: http://www.adultswim.com/videos/rick-and-morty/

Great idea, however as it stands, it's not much different from Steam's discovery queue. I've got lots of games from bundles, gifts, etc. in my inventory that I don't play and will likely never play. Mainly there for card farming. If there is a way to do it, I'd suggest basing the recommendations off of gameplay time and not just the number of X type of game (maybe it already is, I don't know).

I think that gameplay time would give more accurate recommendations.

Hey, thanks for the comment!

Actually you are right, WhiteChest uses playtime hours to predict if you liked the game. You can check out and correct your likes on the main site: http://whitechest.com/ . That might increase recommendations quality a bit.

Interesting tool. I was looking for a website that did this a few weeks ago but couldn't find one.

I tested it out and it did give me some suggestions that I would be interested in, but I find it kind of odd that the first 2 games it recommended I would never play and I don't think I have similar games in my library. It recommended Pony World 3 and Industry Giant 2. It also recommended Catlateral Damage on the first page.

It did recommend me some good games on the 3rd page though. The Talos Principle, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Transistor, Firewatch, Kentucky Route Zero, Metro: Last Light Redux. I am very interested in all of these games.

Glad that you found what you have been looking for (even if it's not perfect).

Pony World 3 is certainly an interesting suggestion ^^
I have a few ideas how to improve recommendations in your case. I'll try to update algorithm on this week.

Hi there)
Actually I made a fix to the algorithm today, it should help in your case. It would be great if you can look and tell how do you feel about recommendations today ^^ Thank you!

It works much better now. I went through 7 or 8 pages of recommendations and almost all of them were the type of games that I like. The only weird game that didn't fit was "Faerie Solitaire", but I'm guessing it showed up because it has the tags indie and puzzle. I have a lot of indie and puzzle games, just not any card games.

What would make it really great, but I don't think would be possible is if it could filter out the results that we already have filtered here on steamgifts. I already have over 4200 games filtered out here that I am not interested in and removing those would clean up the list, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be possible.

Thanks for the second chance!
That's really cool that algorithm got so accurate for you.
The idea about filtering here is really nice, but you are right, it's probably wouldn't be possible.
