I don't remember. Somebody probably mentioned it or linked it somewhere.
I didn't get around to actually joining the site until Subsoap did their massive Faerie Solitaire giveaway though.

I used to frequent the Terraria forums and one time the game was on sale I thought "Hey, I'd like to do a giveaway for the peeps that may use this forum but may not have the game!" so I googled for a website that I could perhaps use to do so and found Steamgifts. After I had made the giveaway though, I found out about the $50 game requirement to use it, so I ended up buying another copy and just using Random.org for a second giveaway that everyone could do. After that though, I ended up sticking with this site.

Same here. Some guy on the playblink's forums was going on about how awful sg was, so I checked it out. Never went back to playblink.

Got a Skyrim 33% off coupon, searched for a trade forum and then found steamtrades. And then I found steamgifts.

I read something about it by chance in forocoches. Then I got curious.
I also must say that first I saw this as source of free games being given away by idiots. Now my attitude towards it has changed drastically.

Long, long time ago. Before Steamgifts and Steamtrades, there was a site called SteamGameSales. It was a forum of sorts, where gamers from all around the globe would chat about everything game and non-game related topics, and occasionally someone would make a giveaway.
After some time, CG sent out 100 invite codes to the top commenters (No! Not spammers!) on SGS, me being one of them. So, from 100 members, we have grew to over 200,000 members, which is not bad.

I got my invite from there as well. It was a day or two before CG invited reddit and the number or users exploded :D

Since I've joined, I always wondered how others found about this great thing called Steamgifts.
Personally, it was through some searches about free Steam games on Google that I found this gem. :)
So how did you know about it?
