No kidding. I am so conflicted sometimes. If I buy on Steam I can use wallet from selling cards, which makes the games basically like "free". On the other hand, whenever a game is on sale, or has good coupons, or is from a dev/publisher that bundled their previous games, or if it suddenly has a lot of multi-copy giveaways on SG, I get very very suspicious about its future bundle status or maybe mass free giveaway status. :P
So I think the best way is to wait until the last moment of the sale/coupon, buy it as a gift and do not add to library, and then wait until the last day before the Steam refund window closes to activate the game on your account. If it still hasn't been bundled or given away for free by that point, I will feel safer in adding it to my library. :)
sometimes the "game" of finding deals on games is more fun than the games themselves

It seems like I 'm seriously not liking IndieGala anymore. Idk why there never seems to be anything interesting in their bundles and on top of that they seem to bundle an awful lot of "requires a VR headset" games. How many people actually own those things? For me bundles with such games are very hard to like. :/

Yeah, quality gets lower and lower.. But they bundle a lot of non-bundled stuff so idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But yeah, as a collector I don't mind. Especially not with the VR games since I wouldn't purchase them myself since I don't own a VR headset. But if I only bought because I wanted to play games I probably wouldn't buy tooo much from IG, or would at least try to split bundles with other people or something.
