I realize how the odds work, and I have already read the FAQ. What I am suggesting is that not everyone can easily figure out just by looking at the amount of entrants, what their exact percentage of winning is. For example, if there are 134 entries, the percentage is 0.74626865671642 (which should realistically be rounded off and shown as 0.75%)

That would be a cool feature. It may be a little bit of an eye-opener to dissuade people posting threads about "150 entries, 0 wins" etc. 0.05% isn't a very high percentile, even if you roll that dice four hundred times.
And percentages are simply easier to register a probability with imo.

Welcome to Steamgifts! I would recommend that you still do make the puzzles for the second reason. Points are awarded to people whether or not they are online or offline. Specifically, 5% of the points a game is worth is given to each user, excluding the giveaway creator, and even if your account hasn't been active for a long time, you are credited those points unless you hit the maximum of 300. Having the puzzles will allow it so that more active people can get to the giveaway, and increases the chances as an added reward for those willing to do a puzzle/riddle. Too many people on this website don't bother to do anything then enter the public or group giveaways that they see on the front page.
Some important and basic points about the forums can be found here:
formatting your text
The enhancement addon
An explanation of the points system
Base rules with links to each of the above pages
If i missed anything, i'll be sure to add it in.

Puzzles are common here on the forums as well, some even have the same structure you described ( nitsogop can confirm ;) ), so I would encourage you to keep making those, if possible. :) And I already said this in your giveaway, but once again, welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Hey Tizen, thanks for signing up and for the suggestion!

Welcome to steamgifts. The odds are (basically) already there, you're asking for probability. In your example with 100 entries including yourself, the probability of winning is 1%; however, the odds are 1:99. Looking forward to your puzzles, should you choose to publish one. See ya around :)
edit: Also, we still have our share of leaches. With over 111,000 members, you're bound to have... well, lots of folks who are just here for free games.

Hi, I've recently migrated from tf2r.com -- I decided to move here due to the point system this site uses; I think it makes the playing field much more even (and the $50 inventory requirement helps dissuade leeches).
At tf2r, I was known for offering an initially "cheap" item, with a clue or puzzle inside the giveaway which lead to a more exclusive and higher dollar item. This was for 2 reasons. One, I enjoy puzzles. Two, I was wanting a way to filter the leeches from the more active members of the website.
Since steamgifts has the point system, I no longer have a second reason to create puzzles, so I cannot say yet whether I will continue making them. Maybe so, but with a lower frequency and on more newer games (Skyrim?). Time will tell.
Also, if any website devs are reading this, one of the things I did like about tf2r that I haven't seen on this site is the display of odds on winning a giveaway. For example, if a giveaway has 100 entrants the odds of one of those people winning the giveaway would be 1%. If you could show the chance of winning a prize next to the number of entrants like:
1,000 Entries (0.1% chance) -- I think it would put things in to a better perspective for some folks.
Anyways, thanks for having me and I wish you all good luck on any of my current and future giveaways!
