Just wanted to see how long it would take - I really have been away from the site awhile and I have tons of games to giveaway at some point lol...

I usually drop the codes like the above into the posts for the more serious giveaways, but haven't determined how I want to proceed yet - or even if I want to right now, as I was waiting to do quite an epic GA at some point.

There is still quite a large group who like the puzzle giveaways. There are still "often" hidden giveaways or puzzle on itstoohard and jigidi (jigsaw puzzles). Personally I am not one of those people because puzzles drive me crazy haha :P
But yeh, I am sure there will still be a big group who would love to participate :)

I'm with peterlol, I don't do puzzles because I'm not good at them so they are just a waste of time for me... but there's a ton of SG users who love puzzles, so I say full steamgifts ahead!

I'm relatively new, but I think if they're appreciated.
The few that I entered, with puzzles and hidden codes, i liked them more than the GA itself :3

Normal GA's are the way to go for the most.
Lesser and lesser forum active people and lesser and lesser interested on puzzles and stuff like that.

I can say that i mostly don't spend the time for puzzles since months.
I am not more active enough and the needed time is nearly every time not on a level that i am happy after solving it or after not solving it. I prefer to be in a good mood and have fun and not all puzzles deliver me that^^ or to be more exact, only a few puzzles deliver me that

i stopped wasting time with puzzles. i see no point in **playing** a game (puzzle, jigsaw, etc.), to have a 0.3% chance at winning a game i wanted to... play.

besides, a few years ago people started to put cheap bundles in puzzles like it's some kind of treasure, which makes the whole idea of "working overtime" to get a chance at winning something nice, pointless. easier to pay $1 myself if i want a game. 🤷

If I have the free time to do a puzzle on the forums, I'd much rather be playing a game (or sleeping).

Good to get some feedback on this. I will note though that for my more complex GAs I did have better 'prizes' on hand. I also sprinkled codes for the lesser things throughout forum posts, posts in the GA threads themselves, etc., so I feel like it would still generate interest even for those not too interested in puzzles.

Puzzles can be fun, but don't go overboard. There's a difference between hiding a URL in a clever manner or having a bit of fun and just wasting peoples' time. Keep them fun and fair.

There are still people (or "people") lurking in the forum to take free keys, but nowadays it seems fewer of them feel it necessary to say anything about it... My impression is there's also much less excitement for any forum stuff going on, puzzles, key drops, giveaways or whatever. There's still all the https://xkcd.com/386/ you could ever need though. :)

Don't expect to read as many comments in giveaways, either. Maybe it really was mostly thanksbots years ago, who knows? But apparently the defaults were changed since now they just enter quietly... :)

People will still follow random links pointing directly to a giveaway, but nowadays they found it via browser addon. Oh well.

In the (almost) 18 months I've been on the site, I've seen (and racked my brain, and solved) a lot of puzzles so yeah it's still pretty much in.
I have never, to this day, won a single GA at the end of a puzzle, including hundreds of Jigidis but I just can"t resist them. Keeps the old foggy sharp. The possibility of winning a game is just a welcome bonus.

Personally, I like to do jigidis every now and then for an increased chance at winning. Makes the puzzles more exciting to do than if there were no possible reward to it. That's why people should stop thinking they're being objective when they say they're a waste of time. There clearly is an incentive to doing them. If you find them boring, however, they may not be worth it for you, but they are worthwhile for others.

Most keys posted in comments, however, are mostly taken by ungrateful people or people who have a bad CV ratio and are afraid of being blacklisted.

The most active puzzle I participate in is Jigidi but I am also limiting that as well. Its straining my eyes so i rather not and rest my eyes instead, For other puzzles since information might be different, there are different sets of rules, I am also not very knowledgeable thus I tried a few times to solve a puzzle and if i cant get it, I just moved on. Overall, I prefer to spend my time in the forum reading and chatting. ^_^
