For anyone wondering, Crusader Kings (1) Complete cannot be activated on steam. $2.77 later. :)

then whats the 3rd party DRM?

Not sure. Didn't download it. For clarification, I'm referring to Crusader Kings Complete, which is the FIRST game. I'm NOT talking about Crusader Kings 2, THAT is a steam game :)

Haha Cities in Motion... I got that for free!

But the sale looks good, too bad I already got the games I'm interested in.

The collection includes a bunch of DLC.

And is redeemable on Steam so you don't have to go through Gamersgate to install the game. For many, this is a selling point.

Its just my opinion though. I would rather get the base game for free then spend money for DLC included.

Again, just my thoughts

If you're not interested in the DLC, the free copy you got is just fine. For someone who'd want to get the 27$ worth of extra content (plus the 20$ game), 11$ is a greater deal as they save 46$ from retail price. Personally, like you, the free base game from the survey will probably be enough for me.

ehh if no achievements it doesnt really matter DRM or no DRM that is the question. gamersgate is a very decent site. especially since you can get an extra 15% off from IGN

Thanks for the heads-up! Got Crusader Kings II, after being told it's essentially Game of Thrones in the real world (how is that not a sexy description?).

And i keep hearing about that series.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is it about? whats so interesting about it?

Serious, mature (both in subject matter and how it's handled), well-written, amazingly well-laid out fsntasy series. The world is pretty generic if you get right down to it, but it's the characters and their political and personal successes and failures that make the entire series just utterly amazing.

This. Fantasy is the backdrop, characters are the main focus. Politicking, backstabbing, bastard children and dwarves. etc.

Dwarves in the small guy with genetic issue sense, not small guy with a mining obsession sense.

Looks like the perfect series for me then, i'll try to catch up.

Fair warning. Expect to not truly understand who the hell anyone is until the start of the second book. I kept hearing about some guy, but it never really occured to me how they were connected to the main cast (is he Eddard's brother? His son? His barber?) until the second book. The cast list is at the back for a reason.

Not trying to discourage people, but it gets much worse in A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons. There are so fucking many people and you finally don't try to understand who anyone is at certain locations (Mereen anyone?). Nonetheless it's pretty much the best "fantasy" (the quotation marks are on purpose. The fantasy bits are very rare, escpecially in the beginning, and they are pretty subtle) I've ever read and like jade already wrote, it's not about the world, but about the people, their decisions, their intrigues... It's basically about the characters. Also it's realistic and I mean not in a "Let's shed as much blood as possible and say fuck all the time" way.

I also love the great subtleties like

Little SPOILER/speculations

The Loras and Renly thing or Jon Snow's parents.

Spoiler end

It's really a good series and the show is great, altough it doesn't match the brilliant books.

Long story short: Read "A song of Ice and Fire", watch "Game of Thrones" and buy "Crusader Kings II"!

Deceit, sexual perversions, money & power. In a historical setup. CK1 was one of the most addictive games ever. CK2 seems to level that up.

And I tought I made a good deal when I bought Magicka for $8.49 on Gamersgate a while ago. Worst thing is it's been sitting in my library ever since and I finally tried the game only today. Still got the Collection on Nuuvem since the DLC alone is worth more than what they're asking for it.

Lead And Gold: Gangs of the Wild West says it uses Steamworks, so it should indeed be steam redeemable. That said, in for M&B, can't resist the price.

Sorry for replying to the first post.
I see that the offer for Mount and Blade extended, can someone please buy that one for me ? I never used PayPal to buy my games(or other stuff) and today I created an account at PayPal and I can't buy (some error). I think it's because my PayPal account isn't verified and I can't verify my account, only in about 2-3 days.
So,can someone buy me the collection ? I've always wanted M&B. I'll return 5€ via PayPal once my account is verified.
Add me on steam if you're willing to help me. :-)

Every penny.

Though if you do buy collections, I'd suggest Warband over With Fire & Sword.

Permalink

How much Warband and With Fire & Sword improves upon vanilla Mount&Blade, in a gameplay perspective?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Fire and Sword is basically a failed product. They tried to go for a historic experience but half the mods are better than it. Major faults are that it's the same game with a few added skins, models, maps and half baked setting. Kind of a M&B 1.1.

Warband on the other hand is a 101% must that build on the original from graphics, engine, multiplayer to expanding the game overall (Fallout 1 to Fallout 2 would be a worthy comparison).

Are you sure you bought Magicka Collection and not only Magicka? Also you can try restart steam and check for DLCs in game properties (DLC tab).

It's in your list of content the Magicka DLC's. Or check in-game.
