This might be a long story so sit back or just leave this thread. I am just expressing my feelings and maybe you judge if i am suppose to feel this way.

Okay here goes. As you guys might know NA Square Enix recently have a Discovery and Friends bundle sale, https://store.na.square-enix.com/discovery-and-friends-sale, and i was hosting group buys and stuff for it as most will not like to pay full price for this and do not know what to do with the leftovers. So i hosted and got quite number of bundles and users buying it and no issues there.

However, on my last buy of the bundle (last one because this incident happened). I was on my usual hosting service and i was asking for users that were interested in all three tiers of bundle so i can get all at once instead of slowly getting one by one which is not efficient to me. I had all interested participants and the cash need to get all three bundles for $32.97, so i go on to their website and purchased add to cart for all bundles. Payment checking and authorization, so far so good. I waited for the download codes and the activation key thing to pop out. (Note: As soon as you unlock the activation key, you lose your right for a refund. Please be sure to download and install your products prior to getting your key.) Yeah yeah blah blah stuff right... So i clicked on activate key and this is where stuff goes wrong.

Long story short they gave me 1 copy of gold instead of 1 and 10 free friend's code as what they advertised. I gave some screenshots and i contacted Square Enix support. I went there and there were mostly all FAQ's, dunno why but they seem to avoid live support. I had to figure out it around a bit and type in a search bar and if there were no other similar questions then i was allowed to send a request for live support. Why do they even allow you to buy the "Friends" thing in the first place if it was full price and only gives one key instead of the picture.

Onwards to live support, they were fairly quick in sending me a reply for the first request. However they said some untrue stuff about what i did, all i did was create an account and added what i could see on their website to cart and bought them. They told me that it was my mistake and i bought some "friend" version. Lets assume it was true and even if i actually did, there should be at least a notice that says this is "friend gift version". But no, all I see when i added for Gold, Silver and Bronze was the same exact description and same exact picture promoting buy 1 get 10 free code. Like if that is really what happen then why did i get Silver and Bronze friend's codes but not Gold?! Its really a BS story if you ask me and plus i do not even have any other Gold Code to redeem beforehand so why would i even end up at Gold "friends" bundle. Totally false advertising even if its their so called "friends" tier.

They took my money and at bottom of their thread says please contact if there is any questions, so i proceed with my arguments and replied to that same email they sent me. Its been 5 days(based on the time i wrote this) since i replied to their first and ONLY reply. They are avoiding me and intentionally don't even bother replying to me. Like around on day 2 i also did a paypal dispute then claim(cause i think they do not even bother replying anymore) for their shady practices, nothing from them too. I really hope paypal is able to do something.

All in all, i lost 17.99$ which i had to rebuy using my own money to make up my hosting service. NOTE: I am not earning any money from this hosting, at most only like few cents and even when adds up i can't even buy myself even 1 single bronze bundle which is $0.46. So i lost 17.99$ which i do not even know if i can get back from Square Enix and their shady no refund policy despite not getting my stuff i ordered. I had to also make my guest wait for their stuff and i fork out my own cash to get them a new bundle. Why do they even allow you to buy the "Friends" thing in the first place if it was full price and only gives one key instead of the picture. I am really bitter about it then and now. Thanks for listening to my rant. No giftaway now but maybe next time. Bump if you think this needs more awareness.

They denied refunds on that "surprise box" last month. I bought 6 because I was sure contents were going to be worth more than a measly 10 dollars..
Paypal and my discover card did not refuse my refund -.o
Fuck square enix.

If you revealed your codes already you're probably boned, but their digital return policy contradicts their red wording "All sales on this bundle final, no refunds" bullshit. All I did was screenshot their refund policy and paypal and discover sided with me.

Yeah discover was faster, but paypal only took like a week after I made a dispute and immediately escalated it to a claim (because I had already contacted square enix support and they denied refund).

Btw, from support site - "Bear in mind that you have a period of 14 days to withdraw your order regardless of status"
So even if you revealed your keys, if you are not satisfied they should absolutely refund and your financial institution should agree with that. Square enix is a massive publisher.. they can absolutely refund and revoke any keys they sell. They deserve every chargeback they get for conducting themselves in this shady as fuck manner lately.

I linked and screenshotted their digital return policy on square enix support site.
Says two different things, both good for consumer -

"Bear in mind that you have a period of 14 days to withdraw your order regardless of status"
That's pretty damning, they should probably remove that from the website.

"We will be able to cancel and refund your digital order just as long as the key remains locked."
Ok, so refund no matter what as long as key is locked. Easy.

Not sure if this even mattered to paypal however, we did not have a conversation. They may have just agreed with me because it was only $29.97. But it worked. I'm tempted to reply back to the support ticket on square enix telling them to go fuck themselves.

I am with you, however I would keep calm and go for another round with them. As you can see, your post even here immediately attracted the shady, entitled one in the first reply, and SE guys certainly have mail exchanges with tons of those.

Well i had a calm talk with them already and they sent me that reply. All i did was just ask them a couple more questions like "why is this "friend" gift thing even a thing when you only get 1 title." They just completely ignored me then, i wasn't throwing them expletives and was demanding and answer and at the very least the 10 codes i was supposed to get like what they advertised (which is why i even got the bundle) or a refund.

I bought 2 surprise box in the past and I'm not impressed.
I am also disappointed in general, not to mention they locked my region to some of their games that I want. so, I don't care about square enix anymore.

The same happened to the user who did the group buy I bought from. He didn't get all the keys and they said it was his fault. He had to file a paypal claim and send another ticket telling them he did that. He had to wait two days but got all the keys.

holy shit, they literally did charge you for the exact same bundle of 10 gifts, but without any gifts, just because you may/may not have clicked "buy" through the gift redeem area. Why the fuck is that even an option???

Yes they did :/ i do not know why does that even exist too. If i even did use "buy" for gift options why didn't it happen to silver/bronze tiers? And the fact that they force you to "buy" one of the bundles just to redeem a code makes it even more tilting.
