Is using something like this a bannable offense? Is it against Steam's ToS?

You don't need one.

  1. start the game.
  2. minimize it.
  3. start task manager.
  4. hit performance tab
  5. hit Resource Monitor button (lower right)
  6. find the game under the Processes column
  7. right click - hit Suspend Process.

Now the game is active as far as Steam is concerned but not tying up your computer.
Collect your cards and reverse step 7.

You really don't need one. I've done it before without the use of a software. Is all a matter of opening it,minimizing, stop it from using resources and lowering sound. Something that takes around 1 minute.

I use both SAM and Idle Master.
Both are safe and reliable, and no, you can't get banned for using them. :)

Remember when people bought games so they could spend their time playing and enjoying them? Pepperidge Farms remembers!

Well, his Steam says Canada :) . But it's quite a world-wide rule that you just need to get out from cities to notice rather big problems with Cable Internet, while mobile'Net is mostly capped.

True. I've heard that the service is pretty decent in the cities. But seriously? Overall, the ISPs are complete a**holes.

Limitations on downloading everything with them, such as datacaps, hard drive space, low download speeds, or just tons of bundle games. Recently I had to farm cards from about 50 games. that.

I have to ask. Is the return really worth the effort?
(Also, it is easy to forget that some people still use dialup internet, and ~Windows 95.)

I got about $20 from those 50 games. So it depends on the user and circumstances. Someone with a limited connection who gets enough bundles can find such software very useful.

Sure. I've bought two games for myself, and another one to give away here.

All I can see is an endless cycle. Well, until you buy games without cards, but they keep adding cards to games... so... yeah. Not to mention the heaps of games that are bundled and sold per week. How many bundles is it? And like 7 games per bundle? Then how many of those games have cards? Even idle farming seems like it would take awhile with the amounts I'm (probably poorly) estimating. Although you would have all week.
