I think it's actually up to the game's developers/publishers where they distribute the Steam keys, some don't want to give the keys through Desura because they only want to give the keys promised to the people who bought it and were promised one should it get greenlit (hence giving them to the bundle site instead. This I think is wrong because everyone who bought on Desura should be entitled to a Steam key, especially if they bought for full price, but it's not our place to judge.
Desura keys are worth significantly less though than Steam keys, so many traders will trade both the Steam and Desura keys separately. You could try contacting the trader, but I doubt you'll get very far.

I think some games bought on groupees still distribute through Desura. It's hard to tell which ones will be on groupees and which ones will be on desura though

So some time ago most bundle keys for greenlight games were desura keys, so when you activated the desura key you got your steam key via desura. I actually liked this way alot. When the Bundle of the Undead launched i was only interested in a single game "Holy Avatar vs. Maidens of the Dead" so i traded for a desura key.
Now that the game got greenlight i thought i will see my key pop up in desura. But obviously groupees is one of the few sites that decide to distribute the key themselfes.
I bought War of the Human tanks from a recent bundle, and my desura activation has still no Steam Key, i had to grab it from the groupees website.
So whats the issue ? A Year ago some random guy traded me a legit key for a game he didnt wanted to have, now that the game got greenlight he actually got a free Steam key for a game he doesn't own anymore.
Some people may be bugged my desura, but you can use it without actually downloading a client ( http://www.desura.com/collection ftw )...
So now i bought a desura game that was supposed to give a steam key, but the guy that sold me the desura key now has a free steam copy of the game. doesn't sound too fair does it ?
i think groupees should give out the steam keys through desura, or at least through their website AND through desura, because i wont be able to get a key for the game i bought because its on the guy's groupees page...
meh
